Juicers. Going to start juicing.?

Looking for a masticating one most likely--not a cheap centrifugal. Will juice hard and soft, veg and fruit, and am open to idea of being able to do nut butters and possibly more. In other words, know this will be in $200-400 range, but I'm too sick to NOT try something millions rave about for health.

I don't want the fast juicers as I do believe the more cut up, the more it will affect quality of output. Want to get the fibre OUT, so something like a Blendtec is exactly wrong as that's smoothies, not a juicer. Realize you can spend a grand or more on a juicer, but don't believe that's necessary. See legit ones with good reviews from Omega, Breville, etc. in range I mentioned.

Would like to hear from folks who have used the real thing and the MODELS used. Pros and cons. Doubt any are perfect, but some are clearly better than others no matter how they will be used.

Googled, read reviews, now looking for folks to share their own experience.

I haven't personally used a masticating juicer, but the Omega ones seem to be the most popular / highest rated.

The Omega J8004 is the highest rated on Amazon. There are lots of good user reviews of this model here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RLYOEE/ref=as...

Actually I'm thinking about the same thing: juicing. I found that Omega very interesting, but here's something more than reading reviews: videos.

This lady is an experienced juicer, so I'd more likely listen to someone with experience than a newby who may not know if something IS unreasonable in some way. In this link, she has three videos. She did one--her using it and then has a Scotsman showing how to put it together (seems very straightforward) and some dude that's video'd his wife cleaning it up.

Based on HER info with videos, I think you get a really good idea of what the device would be like to own.

I can say after buying and returning a regular centrifugal juicer this week that the masticating sounds like it's definitely the way to go. (Mine was messy and pulp was wet.)
