Becoming a chef. Advice?

So I'm a kitchenhand at the moment. A lot of the chefs at my restaurant started as kitchenhands... But were kitchenhands for years. I don't wanna be a dishwasher for years. If another position arises I'm allowed to apply. But they're kitchen is already fully staffed and I don't think they would hire a apprentice chef. I can get a apprenticeship at another restaurant, advice please

That depends on how well you like the restaurant you work at and your boss/co-workers. If you really love it where you are at stick it out. Let the Chef know you want to learn how to cook. They might be able to let you help here and there until a position arises.

If you don't care for your boss/co-workers then get out there and get an apprenticeship somewhere else.

    Best of luck.

Your region could certainly be an trouble. However - great is to start as trainee in a kitchen. To find one that honestly serves what you're just right at, or recognize well. (In different words, if the French traditional kitchen, then don`t go for an aztec restaurant). Give an explanation for what you wish to have, however that you are uncertain if it is rather for you, and you prefer to some work expirience. Regardless of the immigrants, any one with pressure, passion and skill will probably be welcomed in excellent restaurants, despite the fact that head chef you will now not be within a week. By working within the genuine eating places, which you can discover your strenghts, weaknesses and work out an schooling plan. Some eating places in europe for instance offer a piece / college mixture. As an alternative - why not discover a staff of associates, and prepare dinner for them now and again. You`ll have humans round you who might be sincere about your cooking, and also you`ll obtain activities and expertise you need as well. As an added bonus, you`ll get to spend some satisfactory time with friends having fun with excellent meals. Being a waiter is not even close to being a cook dinner or a chef - so purpose for the kitchen, even if you need to begin through making simple salads. Strive to be the high-quality in what you do, and ability can be observed. (oh, if it really works, and also you happen to open your own restaurant, i do expect a free meal :) )
