Why did August from 'Once Upon A Time' turn into a boy instead of a his normal adult self?

I was watching Once upon a time (Series 2, episode 18) and at the end August is turned into a real boy by the blue fairy. What i don't get is that he was turned into a boy not his normal adult self. Why did the writers/producers etc do this? I really wanted August to be with Emma!

Help?!

The best that the Blue Fairy can do is to restore him back as Pinocchio because I guess that's what his father wished for. That the boy made of wood turned into a real boy, not a man.
