Arabidopsis gene of interest?

Im a third year plant science student.

I have to find a gene of my choosing in Arabidopsis and do a complementary test.

what I want to know is which genes have an obvious effect on phenotype and is "quite simple and easy" or which genes are the easiest to use in these kind of experiments.

im not looking to research new genes etc rather one that has lots of information about it as I have to write a small thesis on it. the experiment is designed to get us ready for post grade.

i dont think im allowed to use the trichome "epidermal cell fate gene pathway"

I would choose one of the genes affecting gravitropism. You can detect it already at seedling stage, it's usually not lethal, and there are two major classes of mutant (starch production accumulation and auxin transport mutants).
