My mice won't stop chewing the cage but they refuse to chew their toys?

I bought two mice about a month ago. Recently, I have noticed that they have been chewing incessantly; the bottom of the cage and the wheel are both made of plastic, and the bars are metal. They chew all of it, and the worst part is that they start chewing when I decide to go to sleep. It makes a lot of noise and it makes it impossible for me to sleep.

I have wooden chew toys that they don't like. They just bury them in the bedding and it is making me quite uneasy, since I'm going to college soon and I don't want my mice to be the cause of my roommate's not being able to sleep either. I need a solution quickly. I even try putting peanut butter on the wooden toys to make them realize that they're meant to chew it but to no avail.

Please help!

Update:

They also chew on the wheel. The cage is not too small for them, their teeth are just growing.

My mice do it ALL the time . That is why i put them in a 10 gallon tank with a wire mesh lid . It DRAMATICALLY stops the chewing . Every once in a while , one of them will jump upside down on the mesh and walk which makes a noise , but it's not very bad . They are chewing to shorten their always growing teeth . I give my mice empty toilet paper rolls and edible hides and they LOVE it ! You cannot teach them to stop chewing , but you can reduce the sound by putting them in a tank . Hope I helped ! (:

What kind of cage is it cause it has to be 360 sq inches for them to be happy. ik their teeth keep growing but the most likely reason they are chewing the bars is cause the cage is too small
