Don't judge me by my questions

  • For 5 years I've had pains in my ribs, they come and go not very frequently. Should I talk to my doctor?

It first started when I was a freshman in high school. I'm 19 years old now.

It basically feels like I have horrible cramps in the muscles between my ribs. Massaging doesn't help, only bruises. Breathing normally hurts, a lot.

But then the cramps will go away and it's like it never happened in the first place. No leftover soreness, like when I get a charlie horse. I currently have this cramp as I'm typing this question. I was wondering if I should call my family doctor to get this checked out, if it's serious enough.

Usually when it happens, I think it's because of whatever bra I'm wearing, so I unhook it. It relieves some pain, but not enough to make it stop hurting to breathe. So, I've ruled out the idea of it being a bra that causes this cramp, as I wear one every day and if it was the bra it would be happening every day.

If anyone else could offer up explanations or advice it would be much appreciated

  • What major can I pursue in order to work in a zoo?

I go to Rutgers University and I'm in the School of Arts and Sciences. I'm a sophomore and by the end of the year I need to declare a major. I cannot major in animal science or biology or chemistry unless I switched over to the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, which would require me to have to not only fulfill my major and minor requirements, but I would also have to redo the entire core curriculum required to graduate at all.

Being a part of SAS, I can major in animal science or companion animal science, I haven't decided which one I would prefer. I think it all depends on the major I choose.

I would like to work closely with animals in a zoo that is also part of wildlife preservation programs. I would like to be either a zookeeper or a zoo/wildlife educator, and be one of those people that goes to elementary schools or birthday parties with small animals like snakes and turtles and stuff or even on talk shows or interview shows to teach other people about animals. But along with teaching people about animals, I'd also really like to be able to interact with animals too.

I think my lifelong dream is to be able to walk into a tiger cage and have the tigers be happy to see me, and I look up to Jack Hanna as a role model. If I could walk the same shoes as Jack Hanna, such as going on late night talk shows to show David Letterman crazy wild animals that nobody's heard of or ever been near, that would probably be my biggest dream achieved.

  • How do I get over losing a close friend?

This happened over a year ago, and I still can't get over it.

Let me make this perfectly clear right now, I was the reason the friendship ended. I hurt her feelings very badly because I was incredibly selfish and stupid and I didn't realize what I did. She has every single right to hate me and I do not have a right to complain.

I'm asking for help, because I feel guilty. She wants nothing to do with me, yet she tells me that she doesn't hate me or hold a grudge against me. That doesn't help with my feelings of guilt.

How do I cope with this guilt? I keep having dreams about her and I still wish more than anything to be back into her life. I keep wishing I was a part of her life and I keep wishing she missed me as much as I miss her, but she doesn't. And I'm having trouble coping with this.

Just, please, someone tell me how I can make myself get over this? It's been a year and I can't stop thinking about her. She was my best friend for a few years. I can't forgive myself and I can't move on and I just need help. Please.

  • Can somebody help me pick a type of bathing suit to buy?

    http://www.unique-vintage.com/unique-vintage-black...

This was the first bikini that I saw on this website. I fell in love with it, but I'm worried that it won't look good on me! I'm trying to find a bathing suit that will work with my body type and show off the features I want and hide the ones I don't.

I'm 5'2 and am around 120-130 pounds, I've been exercising hoping to lose some pounds since I'm a freshman in college (stupid freshman 15). I have kind of big love handles, and a big-ish lower stomach, so those are the features I'm trying to hide in finding a bathing suit. I wear 32-34B depending on the company who makes the bra, and I like my legs. I wonder if I should find a bathing suit with a bottom that's not as high-waisted as the one in that link, or if that one would work fine.

Also, if anyone could provide a website or quiz of some nature that would explain to me all the different body types/the bathing suits that work with them that'd be great.

  • What are types of jobs that are animal educator jobs?

I'm looking for specific lines of work like zoo educator. I ask only because I want to explore my options and figure out what I would really like to do for my career. I know that I love teaching others about animals, and so far all I know of is the zoo educator. I want to know if there are other education jobs where I could teach people explicitly about animals, like their behaviors and psychology and facts.

  • In the movie Penelope, didn't she have a sister..?

In the beginning of the movie, it says that the mother had an affair and their first born daughter wasn't cursed because the husband wasn't the father... And the narrator who I'm guessing is Reese Witherspoon says "The first born daughter is actually... Me!"

After Penelope's birth, they completely leave that plotline, when Annie (played by Reese) meets Penelope she talks about getting plastic surgery then says "Well, I'm no Penelope" and then Penelope completely ignores that comment! Why? Why did the directors abandon that plotline but keep the info in the film? Why did Penelope's parents seem to only have one daughter? I'm so confused and it has been bothering me since I re-watched it last night for the first time in years! Someone help!

  • Can I still trade in these things for MAC eye shadow?

About 4 years ago, my brother's wife got me a MAC palette of eyeshadow. It came with 6 colors I believe, and she gave me these little black things with plastic in the middle and told me that I could get more shadow to fill in the empty spots. First, I want to ask if I am right in explaining this, like if I go to the store and ask them to, will they give me eye shadow without making me pay? Will it ever expire/has it expired? How does it work? I am not the most experienced when it comes to makeup, therefore I need explanations. Please help a girl out!

  • What should I get for my boyfriend's little brother to help him feel better?

My boyfriend's little brother, about 11, is starting to get bullied by other kids in his grade for his weight (which, really isn't even considerably "fat", he's just a big-boned kid). I wanted to buy him a small present to maybe help him feel better, because he hasn't told my boyfriend personally. The only reason I know is because my boyfriend's dad told him. I want it to be subtle and small but something that would cheer him up for a little. What do you suggest? He likes monkeys, they are his favorite animal.

Before anyone questions why I would like to get him a gift, I would like to make it clear that he is completely unaware of the fact that even his brother knows, so I cannot simply give him advice without him asking; it would only upset him. I have great sympathies for him as I was bullied for most of my life, but I'm pretty sure everyone goes through a stage of bullying at some point, so I do not need to explain further. I understand that a gift will not stop the bullies, but there is nothing that I can do since I am not even a relative of his. I always feel I need to explain thoroughly and defend myself and my reasoning before I even ask these questions on here.

  • Why is my belly button piercing bleeding?

I got my belly-button pierced on my birthday in June. Four months have passed, and it is now October. For the past few weeks, every time I go to clean the discharge out of my piercing, it begins to bleed. Sort of like a pimple; I squeeze and all the white discharge comes out (Not pus; it is not infected or in pain) and after a little bit comes out, it starts turning from white to a light red. Then, when all the discharge is out, it just turns into blood.

I would like to know why this is happening to my piercing, if this is a different symptom of infection that I am unaware of, (not red, not in pain, nada), or if this is OK and that I should not be worrying about it.

My main concern is that, if it is still bleeding after 4 months, will it be healed completely by my 6 month mark???? This is my only concern thus far, as I have been looking forward to changing my piercing on Christmas. I would be very disappointed to find that at the beginning of December my piercing is still bleeding. Please give me serious feedback, I would prefer to hear from professionals or very experienced people.

  • What should I do/make for my anniversary?

My boyfriend and I make 3 years next week and we agreed not to spend money on gifts like we usually do, since we're broke college students. I usually always make something for him every time I give him a present (my thing is I always buy a present and then make a present for him) but thats probably why I ran out of ideas! :( I made a photo album for our first year, and last year I was only able to make him a card because the present I was going to buy didn't work out (I was going to take him surprise go-karting... the place shut down -.-) and now I don't know what to do. I've made him personal shirts, got a picture frame with a picture of us in it, I'm all out of creativity! All I can find online is the "traditional yearly wedding anniversary presents" which is all money spending. Please help me come up with ideas!

  • What are some careers that allow you to work with animals?

I am a freshman in college and I am undecided on my major. I truly, truly love animals down to my core, and would be the happiest person to work with them in a lifetime career. However, it seems like I can't find a career that I am genuinely interested in.

I do not want to work as a veterinarian, as I do not think I will be able to handle seeing sick animals or performing surgeries on them. I do not want to work as a "behind the scenes" person, aka someone who researches things and does not actually get to spend time with animals.

The only thing that brings true enjoyment in my life is being able to work with animals; petting them, playing with them, watching/observing them when it comes to wild animals (although if being a zookeeper meant I could play with the cheetahs I'd totally do that). In all honesty, money is not a big factor to me, though I'd rather not get paid $20 a day for, like, brushing someone's dog for three hours. I DO want to make enough money to eventually be able to open up and support a no-kill animal shelter.

This all seems really farfetched in my mind, like what career would let me have fun with animals all day? Obviously none, but that's basically my dream, and if there's any possibility that this might actually be a career choice, I'd like to find out now before I make a wrong decision. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I feel like I might need a degree in business in order to open up that shelter, therefore if there was a career that would use that to its ability that'd be great.

All help is welcome just please no rude comments, this is a serious question that I've been wondering for my entire life.

Also, before anyone says marine mammal trainer, just don't, because I looked that one up and I can't swim well enough to do that.... Lol.

  • What is the reason my mouse had diarrhea?

I was holding one of my pet mice and let her go inside my shirt, one of the things I normally let her do. Rue, my black mouse, tends to poop a lot while she's out of the cage, and although she's gotten better recently, she still sometimes forgets to hold it in. Today, she had grey, loose droppings inside of my shirt and it smelled very bad.

I BELIEVE I know why this has happened, but I would prefer to have a more professional opinion, due to the fact that this is the first time I've owned mice. My other mouse has not had diarrhea that I've noticed. Last night, I put leftover bread crust that my friend did not finish eating in their food bowl. Is it possible that I simply fed them too much bread, or that they are allergic to it?

I would very much like an opinion, and if you think it may be something else, PLEASE tell me! I love my mice to death and it made me very upset to see that one of them is sick :(

  • My mice won't stop chewing the cage but they refuse to chew their toys?

I bought two mice about a month ago. Recently, I have noticed that they have been chewing incessantly; the bottom of the cage and the wheel are both made of plastic, and the bars are metal. They chew all of it, and the worst part is that they start chewing when I decide to go to sleep. It makes a lot of noise and it makes it impossible for me to sleep.

I have wooden chew toys that they don't like. They just bury them in the bedding and it is making me quite uneasy, since I'm going to college soon and I don't want my mice to be the cause of my roommate's not being able to sleep either. I need a solution quickly. I even try putting peanut butter on the wooden toys to make them realize that they're meant to chew it but to no avail.

    Please help!

I read a few times that about 60 years ago one of the buildings was used to hold prisoners of war. Is this true?

  • Was society accurately depicted in Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice"?

Well, in any of her novels at least, was society genuinely like that? From my understanding, Elizabeth Bennet's family was poor, but were they actually poor at the lowest scale of that time or were they just lower-middle class lower-upper class or something?

Were men genuinely that... respectful towards women? For some reason, I assumed that women just weren't respected until recently since sexism still exists now, but maybe we as a society are just devolving?

Did people really speak fully like that? Like, instead of saying "Okay" when someone invites them to dinner, they say completely "I would be honored to join you for dinner tomorrow evening", you know?

Basically, I just want to know if reading Pride and Prejudice will give me an accurate depiction of the time that it is set in.

  • My mouse keeps batting its tail?

So, I bout two mice, a couple of days ago, if anyone has seen my previous questions. They are both young females. One of them loves to explore new things and has learned to not be completely afraid of me or my hand. Obviously, she and I are still working on a bond. The other one, however, will bat its tail furiously on the wall whenever I put my hand in the cage, and sometimes even after I've left them alone. I read that this means she is frustrated, but I just don't understand why! She is the same mouse that bit me the first day because she was scared; does she remember this incident and not trust me because of it? If so, will she ever get over it?

Every time I go into the cage, she runs straight to the wheel and just runs nonstop, unless she's stopping to bat her tail like I said. What can I do? Why is she so frustrated if the other one is not?

  • My mouse bit me, what should I do to make her less scared and stressed?

I just bought two pet mice, a black one and a brown one, about an hour ago. The black one is very sweet and shy, but the brown one is scared out of her mind!!! What can I do? I can pick up the black one without worrying, but I tried to pick up the brown one, and not only did she succeed in jumping out of my hand a few times, but she bit me! I know she was afraid, so I'm not mad at her for it. What can I do to make sure this won't happen again? Should I leave her alone? If so, for how long?

  • I don't drink coffee, but I want to get a machine that can make hot tea or cocoa?

I'm going to college soon, and some of my coffee-drinking friends are getting themselves Kurig coffee-makers! I would buy one, however, I don't drink coffee and think it would be a waste. Are there any sort of machines that are possibly cheaper than a Kurig that can just boil water and dispense it into a mug? Or should I just buy a small coffee machine?

  • How to get rid of insects from my room?

There are small insects that I cannot locate in my room, however they are biting me like crazy. I'm allergic to mosquitoes, but these bites look very similar to mosquito bites. Mosquitoes are usually easier for me to find in my room, so I think it is a smaller bug.

So, are there any tips on how to get rid of a biting bug that I can't even see, without asking an exterminator to come? Preferably something natural or something I would find around the house?

    Please and thank you.
