What are some careers that allow you to work with animals?
I am a freshman in college and I am undecided on my major. I truly, truly love animals down to my core, and would be the happiest person to work with them in a lifetime career. However, it seems like I can't find a career that I am genuinely interested in.
I do not want to work as a veterinarian, as I do not think I will be able to handle seeing sick animals or performing surgeries on them. I do not want to work as a "behind the scenes" person, aka someone who researches things and does not actually get to spend time with animals.
The only thing that brings true enjoyment in my life is being able to work with animals; petting them, playing with them, watching/observing them when it comes to wild animals (although if being a zookeeper meant I could play with the cheetahs I'd totally do that). In all honesty, money is not a big factor to me, though I'd rather not get paid $20 a day for, like, brushing someone's dog for three hours. I DO want to make enough money to eventually be able to open up and support a no-kill animal shelter.
This all seems really farfetched in my mind, like what career would let me have fun with animals all day? Obviously none, but that's basically my dream, and if there's any possibility that this might actually be a career choice, I'd like to find out now before I make a wrong decision. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I feel like I might need a degree in business in order to open up that shelter, therefore if there was a career that would use that to its ability that'd be great.
All help is welcome just please no rude comments, this is a serious question that I've been wondering for my entire life.
Also, before anyone says marine mammal trainer, just don't, because I looked that one up and I can't swim well enough to do that.... Lol.
