Moving to Australia advice?
I'm moving to Australia next year, to Brisbane/Gold Coast area. I have applied for some jobs in Hairdressing, Food Service and Gas Stations and Apprentice Chef. What are the chances of getting a job before I get there? Or within 3 months? I will be taking $5000 Australian with me and what jobs would let me have 4 lip piercings (I can hide and take them out)
I am a New Zealand citizen. So I am automatically a Australian resident upon entry I don't need any work visas

Ok there is some weird stuff for NZ, however you DO NOT automatically become an Australian (permanant) resident (Note the term resident in immigration terms is very specific and more refined than in general usage. I will use the immigration term...)
Sadly the job situation in Queensland is not good. It's not good worldwide (in some European countries it's 25%+). However over the 2 years or so 15,000 public servants have been put off and other companies, retail is down and not employing much etc etc

I presume, as you are talking about $5000, that you are coming on a Working Holiday Visa or a Work and Holiday Visa. You will not get a job in a kitchen, food service or a bar with lip piercings and hairdressers might be wary unless their clientele were young people. You can apply for jobs before you arrive but on a WHV you will only be employed casually and most employers like to see prospective employees first. You cannot work for the same employer for more than six months on a WHV.
If you are thinking of a longer stay with permanent residency, you will need one of the required skills and at least two years experience in that skill. The current list of skills is here:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-mig...
The closet required occupations to your list are Hair and Beauty Salon Manager, Cook, and Chef. There is no requirement for hairdressers, apprentice chefs, waiters or service station attendants.
If you have one of the required skills, the visas available are here:

Jobs are not always easy to get but there are jobs for backpackers. One sometimes has to do a lot of leg work to get them. I met some backpackers recently down on the beach at surfers Goldcoast early one morning . They had just finished working through the night making pies. There are plenty of hairdressers here so that may be hard as we have Hairdressing schools that train people then they go out looking for work after their training . Many are lucky but the competition is big there. May be a good idea if you do some training in bar work before you come or a coffee barista . I wouldn't wear your peircings for a job interview. Bring plenty of resumes.

Um, whoa. Hold up. You can't just up and move to Australia and get jobs like that. You need the appropriate visa. And there is no visa at all that would allow someone to move to Australia permanently working in hairdressing/food service/petrol stations!

I predict you'll get one in 2 months
