If I will use a 95W CPU, will I need a 125W motherboard if I want to overclock the CPU?

Hi,

So on christmas I will be building a new PC. So I was wondering, if I were to choose a 95W AMD CPU, will I need to get a 125W motherboard instead of a 95W motherboard? Thanks, I hope to get some answers soon :)

Yes, the 95W motherboard cannot supply the correct amount of power.

If you overclock, you're probably going to add some voltage to the core to maintain stability. So yes it would a good idea to get mobo that supports 125W CPUs. Since you'll be running your CPU beyond it's 95W TDP rating.
