  • Windows 8.1 installation question. URGENT?

Hi, so I am using the instruction and software on this website:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-NZ/windows-8/creat...

to put windows 8.1 to my USB memory stick. Here is my scenario: I have recently built my own PC, that has nothing installed on it. I would like to install windows 8.1 on it from my USB, instead of using a media drive, as I do not have one. My question is, will I be able to do that with the program and instructions given on that website? Thanks! As I'm not quite sure.

  • Question on insalling windows 8.1 on a new build, from a USB. Urgent, Please help!?

Hi, I recently built my own gaming PC from, with nothing installed on it. I want to install windows 8.1 on it, as I have it on DVD. However, I don't have a disc drive with my new computer. I would like to install windows 8.1 from the USB instead of dvd, to my new PC, which again, has absolutely nothing on the HDD. Is this possible? If so, is it officially supported by microsoft? And if it is, please send a link on how to do it. Thank you for your time ad help!

  • Does this motherboard have native support for windows 8 and the FX 6300?

It is an ASrock motherboard, it says on the website that it is ''windows 8 ready'', however I am not so sure due to the reputation of the brand. Also, it says the FX-6300 is supported since BIOS version P 1.20/ 1.20, however I don't know if that BIOS version comes immediately with the mobo, right out of the box. To re-cap: does this motherboard have native windows 8 support, as well as for the FX-6300? Thanks :)

P.S here is the motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

  • HDD Question, help much appreciated!?

    HI,

I will be building a pc shortly. Since I do not want to buy a seperate hard drive, I want use my laptop hard drives. Is this possible? A guy on a similar question I asked said no, however I think I have a way around it, will this work? By the way, HDD No.1 is the one where I have all my data on that I want to transfer, and HDD No.2 is empty except for windows vista, which I will delete (if possible)

    Option 1:

Delete windows vista from HDD No.2 (if possible). Put both HDDs in the system, where HDD No.2 will be a secondary drive and HDD No.1 will be the main one. The guy said this wouldn't work for some reason.

    Option 2:

Delete windows vista from HDD No.2 (if possible). Transfer all data from HDD No.1 to HDD No.2. Then install HDD No.1 into the system, and then transfer all files (including the OS) from HDD No.2 back to HDD No.1 (if this is possible).

    Option 3:

Leave Windows on HDD No.1, but transfer files to HDD No.2 (which has vista on it right now, but will delete once process is over.) Install HDD No.1, then once it is installed, transfer all the files from HDD No.2 to HDD No.1. After that, delete windows vista from HDD No.2 and install it into the system (if possible).

Please try to answer all my questions, such as the OS deletion of vista. Please also answer which option (if any) would work. Please also say any tips, bits I need to know or missed out. Also, list any other ways I could do this; if I could.

Thanks you so much for reading!

  • If the energy drink I drink has no effect on me, does it still hurt me or effect my body in any major way?

    Hi,

Sometimes I drink some energy drinks (yes, I know, very unhealthy). They don't really affect me much, when I'm sleepy they might make me slightly more awake, but only for a couple of minutes. So yesterday I drunk a few, beyond the recommended amount, and I saw slightly more prominent blue veins and it went slightly numb for a minute. So yeah, the question is pretty much in the title.

  • Can I connect a Laptop HDD to a Desktop?

    Hi,

I will be building a PC. I have 2 laptops, and both have pretty good HDDs, and it would really suck if I couldn't use the HDDs from them. Is it possible to do so? Do I need any special adapters, or anything else? One of the Laptops is an HP Pavilion dv4t, and is the new model, which looks like this: http://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/tx_nbc2/hpDV4...

The other is an HP dv6-1203AX.

    Thanks!

  • My keyboard is broken, is there a program to make keys perform the action of other keys on my keyboard?

Okay, so the ''W'' key on my keyboard is broken. I can't use it. Is there any way of making ''E'' write ''W'' when I am typing? Is there a program to do it? For example, when I press ''E'' on the keyboard, it will write ''W'' on the UI\screen? Thanks.

  • PCI vs USB for wifi in a desktop PC?

    Hi,

I will be building a PC, and I will have to be using Wifi. I will be using the PC for gaming. I have a 2-story house and the router will be on the second floor, however it won't be far away, as my room is right next to the stairs at the bottom and the router is near the end of the stairs up the top. Will one perform better than the other, will there be a large performance difference? Was wondering because I don't want to use a PCI slot for a wireless card, because the Bitfenix Prodigy case I really want won't allow it.

P.S can you guys recommend and give links to some good PCI wifi cards and good USB wifi receivers? Thanks!

  • Will an overclocked FX 4300 perform better than an i5 4440?

    Hi,

I will be building a computer. I was just wondering, as these are my two options:

    i5 4440, 260 dollars

FX 4300 (150 dollars)+110 dollar aftermarket cooler, overclocked

which one will perform better, as both will cost the same total price

    Thanks!

P.S How much will I be able to overclock the AMD CPU? Also, don't tell me about the hexa-core CPUs, I am considering them, but then I will have to spend less on the CPU cooler (about 30-25 bucks less) and will therefore get a lower clock speed.

  • Will I be able to play World of tanks on SteamOS?

So steam recently announced that SteamOS will be coming out on friday, 13th of cdecember. My question is, will I be able to play world of tanks on SteamOS, or will I have to use something like Wine or PlayOnLinux. This game does seem to have at least some steam background. Reason I am asking is because I will be building a new computer and I don't want to have to leave my favourite game, if I do choose to use SteamOS. Thanks!

  • My vision goes blurry when I stand up?

    Hi,

So sometimes when I stand up my vision goes blurry, nothing else but my vision, I don't feel trippy or anything. I wear glasses, I don;t know the levels of my vision, but I do know that I can't see distanced properly, I can't see far at all. I don't have diabetes, my blood sugar is average and as far as I know I have no allergies, but I do need to get tested, as it was a while since my last one. So yeah, my vision goes black when I stand up, sometimes when I stand up very quickly and sometimes as I always do. Today it nearly blacked out my whole vision. It does go away after a few seconds. I don't smoke or drink, neither do I smoke drugs such as marijuana. So is there anything wrong with me? Is it a special condition or something? How do I fix it? Thanks.

  • Can this RAM run on a Haswell system?

    Hi,

I want to build a PC and this is the best RAM for the money I could find:

    http://www.playtech.co.nz/afawcs0139235/CATID=254/...

However, it says here that it's motherboard system chipset is:

    Intel P67

    Intel H67

    Intel H61

    Intel P55

    lntel H55

    Intel X48

    Intel P45

    Intel X38

It doesn't say if they are compatibel or not, i.e if those chipsets are a MUST.

Can I still put this RAM in my haswell system? Will there be any set-backs or problems?

    Thanks for reading!

    P.S I will be using either an H81, B85 or H87 chipset.

  • Intel Turbo Boost Question?

    Hi,

I will be building a PC. I found a really good CPU, the I5 4440. It has a normal speed of 3.1 GhZ and a turbo speed of 3.3 GhZ. So is Turbo adjustable? For example, whenever I launch a specific game or program, can I set it so it automatically turns on and stays at 3.3 GhZ? Also, can this only be done on asus, gigabyte etc motherboards if it can be done? Is there software to manage turbo boost?

Alternately, can I get a program to stress a core, to force it to use turbo boost? For example, I am playing a game, using only 1 core. Then I run a program, stress a 2nd core (in total of a quad core processor) and push the GhZ up? If this can be done, will the performance be noticeable with the core stressing rather than without?

Also, what is the maximum temperature at which turbo turns on? So then I could invest a little more into cooling (if needed)?

As well as that, I do know that non-k intel chips can push their multiplier a bit. Can permanently OC the chip by pushing the multiplier to it's limit, so then to achieve 3.3 ghz? Can you only OC non-k intel chips to their turbo GhZ as a maximum overclock, so then you could run turbo all the time?

Finally, can I shut off 3 cores and only leave 1 running, if I will be playing games, so as to force turbo? If I am right with my guess, this will run turbo boost all the time, am I right? Is the ability to shut off-cores BIOS-limited (for example, if asus ones could but gigabyte ones could not)? Can those BIOSs only run turbo mode for as long as they are allowed to, because the BIOS controls the turbo settings?

Reason I am asking is because I want to get good performance, but I don't want to spend an extra 40 bucks to get 4670-like performance.

    Thanks :)

  • How old do you have to be to get into an aviation school in NZ?

Hi, so I live in NZ. I want to get into an aviation school ASAP, I am now 14 years old and attend Auckland Grammar school, around Auckland, obviously. My parents said to me, either go to the military, go to a programming school or go to an aviation school. They don't want me to stay in when I'm 18, as they think it will be a waste of time and I could already be learning towards a degree by then. The minimum age I can quit school is 17. So how old do I have to be to go to an aviation school in NZ? I know you need to get a private pilot's license and all that, but how old do you have to be to join a school who does that (such as Massey university), as they combine all of those courses for the licenses and such? I am currently a Resident, not a citizen, so can I still apply for an Aviation school? I have an Israeli passport, I am Russian however, I never considered myself even slightly Israeli and I don't share their culture in my daily life, neither do I have Israeli relatives or friends.

So anyway, can I still get into an aviation school (which integrates all the separate courses, such as the Massey aviation school) by 17? Thanks :)

  • Can't breathe through my nose?

Hi, it's been months since I thought to myself ''Hey, I can breathe and smell through my nose!

Since I was a child, I just could not smell often as other people or even breathe through my nose. I don't even have any vivid memories of smelling pleasant things. All I can smell right now (well, if it really is smelling, and not my body telling me something) is a vague cigarette stench. And there were no smokers that lived in my house or for several streets even. Is this a serious condition? Since childhood I got sick often as well, and still do to this day. I however do not feel sick, a runny nose or anything else. Although I can run some air through my nose if I breathe hard and do feel a cold/tingling sensation when I do, I can't breathe from it. I've tried many medications and so on and they don't work well, when they do they only work for a short while. Is this serious? Do I need to see a doctor? Are there any good medications out there (I've heard sea-water is good, but I never tried it)? Thanks.

P.S there are no allergies that I have that I know of. However, it's been a while since I had an allergy test.
