Will an overclocked FX 4300 perform better than an i5 4440?

Hi,

I will be building a computer. I was just wondering, as these are my two options:

i5 4440, 260 dollars

FX 4300 (150 dollars)+110 dollar aftermarket cooler, overclocked

which one will perform better, as both will cost the same total price

P.S How much will I be able to overclock the AMD CPU? Also, don't tell me about the hexa-core CPUs, I am considering them, but then I will have to spend less on the CPU cooler (about 30-25 bucks less) and will therefore get a lower clock speed.

Well look at it this way: the bench marks tell the tale
The 4300 = 4706 ($110)
the 4440 = 6490 ($195)
But the look here 
FX-6300 = 6390 ($110)
As you can see the 4440 is considerably faster than the 4300...however you can get close to the 4440 speed with a 6300 and STILL be in that $110 price range

I assume that i5 is faster.

Try looking up Intel Core i5 3570K and AMD 8320 or AMD 8350. All these three can be overclock. If you wanna overclock any processors, I wanna suggest you to buy a CPU watercooling with it. Doubt you are going to overclock the processor but I would not recommend you the heatsink of the AMD processors, they are mostly really loud and I have gotten bad reviews about it

No,the amd 4300 has 2 mdules each consisting of 2 cores, hence most of the time it acts a a dual core processor.

the i5 is a true quad core processor.

AMD are scrapping their FX series due to it not really being supported or being that popular. i5 wins this time.

No, the cores in the i5 are twice as powerful and it can be overclocked too

Intel processor  tech is to  make it faster using less power , amd processor are good  but reminder has a higher power draw to meet with intel processor, best to go with the intel processor
