My vision goes blurry when I stand up?

Hi,

So sometimes when I stand up my vision goes blurry, nothing else but my vision, I don't feel trippy or anything. I wear glasses, I don;t know the levels of my vision, but I do know that I can't see distanced properly, I can't see far at all. I don't have diabetes, my blood sugar is average and as far as I know I have no allergies, but I do need to get tested, as it was a while since my last one. So yeah, my vision goes black when I stand up, sometimes when I stand up very quickly and sometimes as I always do. Today it nearly blacked out my whole vision. It does go away after a few seconds. I don't smoke or drink, neither do I smoke drugs such as marijuana. So is there anything wrong with me? Is it a special condition or something? How do I fix it? Thanks.

Such head rushes are commonly caused by orthostatic hypotension as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22orthostatic...

It's completely normal. It's just the lag time between your blood pressure getting high enough to support you from rested position to standing.

Same thing used to happen to me all the time. Vision would fade out to grey then come back.

If your salt intake and blood pressure is low, try increasing it a little to help.

It could be related to blood pressure...but then again it could be a symptom of a lot of other things as well. Make an appointment to see your doctor and have a medical with blood tests and scans to alleviate any concern.

Max, you need to go see a doctor. She or he is the only one that can answer your questions. Please make an appointment as soon as possible. Try to tell yourself not to worry and tell yourself that you are not going to let any of those worrisome thoughts "rent space in your mind". Take care.
