Can I connect a Laptop HDD to a Desktop?

Hi,

I will be building a PC. I have 2 laptops, and both have pretty good HDDs, and it would really suck if I couldn't use the HDDs from them. Is it possible to do so? Do I need any special adapters, or anything else? One of the Laptops is an HP Pavilion dv4t, and is the new model, which looks like this: http://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/tx_nbc2/hpDV4...

The other is an HP dv6-1203AX.

Thanks!

It really depends on the hard drive... laptops now days are using SATA connections which can also be used in desktop computers, but if it uses an older connection then your probably not gonna wanna use the hard drive. Also, laptops usually use 5400RPM hard drives which you can get a 7200RPM pretty cheap. which is a lot faster. keep in mind that your gonna have to format the laptop hard drive, you can't use the Windows from your computer on the desktop due to new hardware and what not. so yea, hope this helps.

what do you mean by "connecting"? do you want to easily transfer the data from your laptop to your PC or vice versa, perhaps? well, as far as i know, you can connect them with LAN switch box, then set up the Home Group to transfer files (or perhaps you won't have to). that's all i know.
