Is it necessary for a poem to have a varied rhyming pattern?

Untitled

Black silhouettes row to sunset

where the orange ball ripples and waves

one light kiss of salty nape sweat

while one hand slightly misbehaves

Often knees begin to get wet

from the droplets where the oars lave

and brush under a bridge rosette

as all the bells ring from their graves

Scrape the bottom, drunken keel debt

there's nothing here the water saves

row until morning songs forget

anoint the forehead kneeling knaves

Update:

Thank you Dallas and Bri in advance. I have to learn the new rules and I don't know how long a poem will stay posted. I like the suggested title. And thanks to the first reader too.

Rhyme is not that important Andy, flow is. The poem should flow beautifully when read out loud. However if you use rhyme, it can be end rhyme, internal rhyme or even in assonance. There was some great imagery in this write. I loved the strong colour of sunset with the use of silhouettes. Nicely done and a touch of romance as well. Keep posting.

What do you mean by "varied rhyming pattern"? Poems don't have to rhyme at all; on the other hand, some poems use the same rhyme on every line; and others have very complicated rhyme schemes including internal rhyme, assonance, etc.

This is almost sonnet like and well done, and to answer the direct question, no it does not. Even free or and verse need not strictly rhyme, but can have internal rhyme in the flow.
