What is it like as a damage controlman and the navy?
Im thinking about joining the U.S Navy and I cant find much about someones experience as a damage controlman (Emergency Fire and Rescue). I hope people here will tell me about their experience. Thanks.

I was a Damage Controlman aboard the USS Enterprise during the early 90's. It is SO much more involved: Fires, flooding, personnel casualties, CBR (Chemical, Biological & Radiological warfare). It is a great rate, but involves long hours. (But is SO worth it!) It also transfers VERY well back into the civilian world.

you are incorrect. DC is NOT emergency Fire and Rescue. it incorporates SOME aspects of that field but ALSO Includes a LOT more, mostly dealing with keeping the ship afloat by any means necessary: as in fixing leaking pipes.
