Why on earth would we try and pass another bill that allows for pre-existing conditions?!?

    They have the PR to sway votes.

    Try getting auto insurance AFTER you have the accident.

    Because *some* people think that it's a good thing to take care of each other, even if there is some personal cost involved. Think of the parable of the Good Samaritan.
