Is it cheaper to live where you work or buy your own house and rent a place for your business?

Or rent the place you live at and rent the commercial part of the building too?

Too many variables to get an answer.

That would depend on your business, if clients are coming for goods/services that could affect parking, access and traffic and you may need to have legal permissions for all/any, if you are renting a residential property many do not allow you to run a business from them, so you would have to check that first.

My first business ( and home) was a shop and living accommodation above it... great for time saving/no travel BUT customers knew where I lived and I would get knocks on the door too often even when the shop was closed, it would often be late a night wanting something 'urgent' for them or even to make an appointment.... a real pain as I never 'left' work. I have lived elsewhere and ran a business and apart from travel I had a work /life balance..so depends on you

Depends on the business and the location. You might want your business in the center of the city, but cannot afford to also live there...

Far too many variables to answer your question.

The answer to your question would depend on the type of business you are in.

If you would have clients that you are required to see on a regular basis, this could become a neighborhood parking problem problem.

You could also be in violation of the zoning code that is zoned for residential and not business.

You would be required to find the answer to these questions prior to deciding to rent or buy a house and use it as your business also..

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.
