Is it safe to go running at 4.30 in the morning? I live in a pretty safe area. (started a new job so have to move my morning runs earlier)?

Thank you in advance <3

If you do, make sure you change up your routine every day so you can't be tracked in case some weirdo is watching and expecting you.

Is summer starting where you are? It starts to get light around that time so you should be safe but not %100. Strap a phone to you some how just in case.

    Usually.

Traffic will be less than evening or early night, so you would be a little safer.

It may be dark out that early. If so, there will be visibility hazards. You are more likely to trip in the dark, so it would be a good idea to wear something to light your path, and/or take a route well lit with street lights or rec. trail lights. You may want to wear lights or reflectors to make you more visible to motorists, other runners, bicyclists, skaters, and others out early.

In the summer, 4:30 AM can be a great time to run. You get some light from the rising sun, and are out when the air is fresh and cool.

When there is no insecurity one does not think about security, only thinks about security when there is insecurity.

    Total security does not exist.

Yes. but you still should take some precautions.

Fortunately, muggers don't usually go after runners. Too much work. And what are they going to steal - your iphone. muggers can get those in the subway much easier. :)

A whistle and some pepper spray is still a good idea. Also, a lot of early morning runners will have an app that shows where they are real time. and have someone they know know where they are going.

I think the biggest hazard is from low visibility and getting hit by cars. Although there is less traffic at 430, that might just mean the cars are going faster. and people are sleepy and maybe not looking.

So reflective clothing, and a lamp are still good ideas.

At least carry a flashlight. Just in case you drop something, so you can find it.

and maybe a headlamp so that you don't step into any big holes.
