Is there nothing I can do to stop the electricity company from scamming me...story below?
So my electric bill kept getting higher each month and finally i called Ambit. they said I have not had a plan for 10 months now. Which i know is impossible because i definitely did renew my plan. But they put me on a super expensive month to month plan. and Now that I finally know Im stuck because my apartment lease ends in 10 months and the electricity plans all last 12 months

They did the same thing to me years ago. They ended up sending me checks every year because they couldn't meet their guaranteed savings. They changed my plan without notifying me. They didn't send a letter, an email nothing. They said I "should have known it needed to be renewed" and that there wasn't an automatic renewal of a current plan. I cancelled and moved to a much better ESCO. I've still gotten a couple of checks from Ambit from a class action suit that was filed against them. Google "Ambit complaints" and see if there is a solution there for you.

You can sit back like an idiot and take whatever is shot your way, or you can dispute their changing plans on you. Are you a sitting duck or can you speak up for yourself? If you did not approve the plan change, then you have a very short time to let them know. Don't be paying month after month and then decide to spring it on them.

When you move out you CALL the electric company, get a meter reading and either pay in full for the electricity used or get a refund on anything overpaid at that end date. They don't make you keep paying, the new tenant opens an account with them.
