How do Italians feel about people born into American Italian families and Brazilian Italian families? Do they see these people as family?
I mean, do they see them as fellow Italians or they are too Americans or Brazilians now? Or maybe they are just curious about them. If they still have parts of the Italian culture in them. What reaction would an Italian have if you tell them you are a descendant of Italians? I was thinking about it reading the bio of Nikka Costa. I thought Costa was a Portuguese surname. I got surprised now. My mother loves her.

If you don't even speak an Italian language, you are not Italian yourself.
You can be family, but without a shared language you will not have the full experience

I have a friend whose great-grandfather immigrated to the US. She wanted to see the tiny little town he came from. Somehow, she got in touch with his relatives. She traveled to Italy and got to this tiny town where they welcomed her with open arms. They had a big party, where everyone greeted her- even though she didn't speak Italian and they didn't speak English.
