I'd do exactly what I did this year. Bought myself the roses, the chocolates, the balloons and the plushies. I would have given most of them to him had it turned out he actually did buy me a present. But like most guys this day and age - I was sceptic he wouldn't even though I made it clear I wanted us both to do something special for each other.

So, I ended up giving all the presents that I bought to me, and I still felt really damn good about the day! Oh, in case you were wondering, I dumped the scum bag who claimed Valentine's was just "A made up holiday." Newsflash to the ex: It's been celebrated for thousands of years. Way longer than your little Hallmark company was invented.

I'll say it before and I'll say it again. If men aren't interested in making you feel appreciated for all of the work you put into the relationship (let's be honest, women do most of the work) then I can't be bothered to allow him to make me feel unwanted on Valentine's Day, our anniversary, or my birthday.

If he claims that any of these days are made up, RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION GIRL.
