Do diabetes medicines reduce your energy level?

Do the various drugs, like Metformin, reduce your energy levels due to them reducing your glucose levels?

When you have high sugar levels in your body, your body is NOT using the sugar to give you energy.

Diabetic medications help reduce sugar levels AND help your body USE the sugar correctly.  Diabetic medications brings your sugar levels closer to the normal ranges.  If reduced sugar levels caused a lack of energy, then EVERY person who has NORMAL sugar levels would always be tired.

Uncontrolled diabetes is MORE likely to reduce your energy levels than the medications that you would be using to bring your sugar levels back into control.

When you are in the early stages of trying to gain control of diabetes, it might be difficult to tell the difference between side effects of the medications and symptoms of the sugar levels.  The longer you use the medication and the better control you get, the more "normal" you will feel.

It is my understanding that is NOT how Metaformin and Januvia work. Those medications stimulate your body to produce more insulin. Oral medications do NOT work like insulin and reduce blood glucose levels. Hormones other than insulin interact with insulin and can affect your energy levels and metabolic rate, specifically thyroid and parathyroid hormones.

I had a lung doctor put me on Meatafotmin and Januvia for over 3 months when I was in rdhsn in a nursing home 21 years ago. He?ask was overdosing me?within acting insulin at 2 in the morning. This doctor obviously did not know I am a?type a diabetic or once he DID I ow didn't care enough to consult with a diabetes doctor. I don't have ANY beta cells to stimulate insulin production. In addition, I can be very insulin sensitive, the opposite of insulin resistant. Strep bacteria destroyed The beta cells when I was less than 2 years old.
