Can you get a cook job at a diner without knowing how to cook?

The listing says "willing to train" but I literally don't know how to fry an egg! Will they be patient and teach me the basics, or do they mean train for more complicated dishes?

It depends on what kind of restaurant. If it's a top ranked fancy restaurant, they expect applicants with some knowledge and experience at being a cook. If it's a bar that serves burgers and pizza, they can train you to do that.

You just have to go check it out and see. Sometimes there is a lot of pressure on a restaurant cook when the dining room fills up and everybody wants their food at the same time.
