Is it old to lose your virginity at nineteen or twenty as a woman?

Update:

I wasn’t going to say anything, but to answer your question, I’m a beautiful woman who’s had guys throwing themselves at her and turning heads since I was twenty.

Update 2:

How about you question mark? Are you beautiful now?  Probably look worn out from too much sex and booze, if you started at twelve.

No, it isn't. Some people lost their virginity at this age, others don't. Some people wait until they're older, so don't lose their virginity until they're an adult. Some people never do, due to not having children, or not having biological children.

The average age when someone has sex for the first time is 16. Some countries it's forbidden until a certain age, for example in the UK, it's 16, and it's 17 in the republic of Ireland. In some countries, it's illegal to have sex outside of marriage.

LOL I just love your comment to the troll!

But also, dont live by a timeline and do life as YOU want to! 20 is not "too old" and even if it was, that's an opinion. You should make your own decision when you're ready not when someone else is.

not at all, i was 22 when i lost mine and im male. If you are an adult (which you are) and if you feel you are ready then go for it. If you are just doing it because society is telling you to then dont do it.

    Its okay to wait.

Not at all. I have read that the average age of having sex for the first time has risen over the past few years. Kids are getting smarter. BTW, the whole concept of "losing virginity" is outdated and meaningless. Most women now do not have intact hymens because of sports activities. Many indulge in "everything but" activities for a long time before having penetrative sex.

No, that's not old.  Not that I've gone around quizzing everybody I know, but about a third of the women I know well enough that the topic has come up lost their virginity towards the end of or after university.  I could tell you that they wanted to be married or at least engaged first, but I think it was more like they wanted to feel in control of their lives so that sex would come from a place of confidence, and that meant having a job that paid more than fun money, preferably something to do with a career, and a place of their own, even if it was a flatshare.  In fact, I don't just think so, I've been explicitly told so.  They didn't want sex to be something that anybody could say they "owed."  If it's love you're waiting for, well, many women feeler emotionally safer to fall in love if they know they can stand on their own two feet.

with the increase in lesbians these days, some never do

Some lose it earlier and some later.  It depends on you, when you are ready, to give yourself to someone.

It should not be a 'life goal'/'check box' that you need to mark by a certain age.

Inmost Western cultures 16 is considered the age of consent. Losing your virginity before you reach the age of consent in your country is a little sad. It means you either succumbed to peer pressure or someone took advantage of you. It is good to avoid this.

Less than 100 years ago, only a small proportion of women would lose their virginity prior to marriage.

Studies have shown women reach their sexual peak at around 40.

It is really up to you. It is NOT a competition and should not matter to anyone other than you.

God wants you to lose your virginity to your husband after you get married.
