My neighbor just lost his ring in the city water line. Can we shut down the water to look for it?

    stop trolling.  the water line is continuously under pressure and you can't 'lose' a ring into it

    How? The only thing open round be a drain, which have catch basins for debris.

    You can call and ask if someone can come out to look for you.
