what causes the S&P500 to go down on a particular day?
For example as I write this, the S&P500 is down 0.58% from yesterday. This confuses me because there are 500 different companies in a massive range of different fields and I can't see why one thing could be related to all of them at once to bring them all down. Could it be like a number big funds withdraw together at a particular time or something?
