Normally when I connect my camera to my PC, utilities starts up and I can choose to download my images. All of a sudden it won't let me do this - the option to start downloading is greyed out.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

Other changes I have made since the last time I downloaded images is to update software like Ad-Aware, Super AntiSpyware, and Spybot. I suspect (but don't know) that it could be something to do with these. I have since uninstalled them but it has not solved the problem. I have also tried turning off my anti-virus but to no avail.

Has anyone else experienced this and can tell me how to fix it? Any computer experts out there?

My system is XP.

To download photos from my camera, I have always just plugged it in to my laptop, turned my camera on, and the Canon Utilities menu pops up. I then click on start downloading images, and it all happens. Now, out of the blue, the Utillities menu won't open, until I disconnect the camera. Then it opens, but the "start downloading" button is greyed out. I have also tried manually starting Utilities, but it won't start.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and formatted the CF card.

The only thing I can think of is that I updated some antivirus stuff on my laptop (Super AntiSpyware, Spybot, Ad-Aware etc) since I was last able to download photos. I have since uninstalled them all, but to no avail.

Help please from anyone who can!
