  • Becoming a reader for auditions?

How do you become a reader for acting auditions? I don't have an agent because I have no experience or connections and I thought I would try and look into starting to make connections. Do you just contact the CD straight up? Is it paid (I am not bothered about being paid so I would offer my services for free if it is paid, being paid in the experience is enough for me)

  • What are some good UK acting agencies?

I have been trying to get an agent to take me on and been doing research however I cannot find one/decide on one.

I unfortunately am not a drama school graduate as I did not get the chance to go to drama school but I am also not willing to give up on my lifelong dream due to one minor setback so I thought I would use every resource possible, even yahoo answers.

I'm looking for a professional agency willing to take on and represent new talent without them having been referred from somewhere else - is anyone represented by/know any good talent agencies in the UK? Preferably near Manchester or at a stretch, London

I know covid is making things difficult currently in the industry but I still want to try

  • Will I hear back from the casting director? Or should I move on?

I sent in an email to apply to audition, I'm new to the industry and the CD stated that they will get back to people ASAP if they want people. Now this was an open casting call with a massive fanbase, the post they made about the call got 20k likes so assuming half of those people applied is there a chance they just haven't read my email yet? It's been a week since I sent it and I kind of assumed that it just meant no after around four days. People keep telling me to wait and see but I don't want to build false hope.

This application didn't require us to send a reel (strangely) just a headshot and paragraph about ourselves. It is a professional production so its around 300 words (unless some people wrote more) They stated that they will not reply to anyone they want because they were receiving so many applications. They're not looking for prior acting experience (although I do have some - and yes I forgot to state it because I didn't want to make the email too long)

Do you think I should keep my fingers crossed or move on?

  • How long does it take a casting director to email you back?

I emailed in regards to an open casting call 4 days ago, hoping to audition but I haven't heard back and I assume that means they didn't like what they saw. Do you know how long it would take for them to get around to my email and if there is a chance they just haven't read it yet because there are so many applicants? I'm new to the acting industry as no one in my family does anything with it but it has always been my dream and I'm sticking with it

In desperation I WANT to email again to specify a few things and increase my chances but I know that is frowned upon and seen as desperate but if I already failed it can't hurt. I just want a chance to audition and show them what I can do and then let them decide if I am wrong.

Please be kind in your replies I am very new to this if you can't tell

  • How to turn a youtube video?

SO I was watching YouTube on my laptop and then I placed my phone on my keyboard by accident. It changed the orientation of YouTube so its not like a little square with all the thumbnails down the side but its stretched out horizontal? How do I change it back I'm clicking so many random buttons but I do more harm than good and I googled it but all that comes up is actually rotating the video for creators in editing, not just for viewing

  • Nintendo and Sanrio laws?

I was considering starting a small business on etsy and I wanted to make some animal crossing and sanrio character pieces (as well as my own character designs) such as clay earrings modelled by myself after the characters, however I am aware there are copyright laws and such and while I have done research I cannot find a solid answer.

Lots of people seem to produce art on esty based off these characters but is it legal? I would only do this if it was 100% legal to make fan made product, I would not be copy and pasting official artwork and such but I would be making my own based off the characters. Does anyone know the legalities of this? Thanks

  • Friendly hamster suddenly attacked me?

I got a lovely hamster not too long ago and she's a few months old. She has a nice temperament and always begs me to hold her and let her out of the cage.

Today, she was awake so I opened the cage door and she climbed out and onto my hand as normal and took her to sit down and I'm stroking her until suddenly, she makes a weird noise and before I really know what's going on she has moved lighting fast and clamped her mouth down on my thumb really hard. In shock I shook my hand which I shouldn't have done because it threw her off over the edge of the bed into the wall (which I feel incredibly guilty about)

She's always been nice, I don't understand, she has had her quirks but I never expected this.

Is the cage too small? The cage I got for her is the pink rosewood cage that has multiple floors.

Other thoughts is I recently found out she's in something called 'heat', does that affect anything?

The only recent change I have given to her is because of the pandemic I havent been able to get her a ball they were out of stock everywhere, recently I got her one and put her in it for the first time last night but this is the longest I've had a hamster without putting them in the ball. She's handled regularly.

I just want to know why she's like this and if its something I did, it's really upsetting thanks.
