  • Why does Dublin look like so run down? ?

    Don't get me wrong, every city in the world has its good and bad but for a first world nation, Dublin is appauling.

    I've been to London, New York, Paris, Berlin and they don't have the visible problems of homelessness and drug use that Dublin has in it's CBD. 

    The police in these cities at least keep the tourist areas looking good. Meanwhile on O'Connell Street, you'll have people drunk out of their minds drinking Dutch Gold during the afternoon. You can see many homeless people sleeping on cardboard boxes or tents throughout. Even when going to Phoenix Park. Don't think I've seen so many rough sleepers in any other city.

    Even my German and American friends who visit here claim that the countryside is beautiful but Dublin overall sucks.

  • Is it weird to get a visit from Gardai detectives in Ireland?

    Yesterday, a black car stopped outside my house. Two men dressed in business attire got out of the car and rang my doorbell.

    They said they were Gardai detectives and doing a check on me. They showed a badge, took my phone number and left.

    They didn't say why they came. What might that be about?
