Why does the air become more "thin" with greater elevation? Also, the tress growing higher up are shorter; why

We are at the bottom of a deep ocean of gasses called the atmosphere. Because of that, the bulk of the weight of the atmosphere is crushing down on us. If you jumped into the ocean and began swimming down you would feel the pressure increasing as more and more water is pushing on you. So naturally the pressure of the water is lower the nearer the surface you are while at the bottom it is enormous. So if you get to a higher elevation the air getting thinner is the same as the pressure is decreasing because you are farther from the "bottom" of the atmosphere. Less weight pushing down on you.

The higher you get the less pronounced is the atmospheric effect that traps heat from the sun (and the ground). This is commonly known as the greenhouse effect. So it is colder for longer periods of time at higher elevations. And trees need long periods with frost free soil to grow. So the higher up you get (also the nearer the poles) the harder the trees have to struggle to live. Too high up and they can´t live at all. This is called the tree line. So the higher up you get the shorter and stumpier the trees get, up until the tree line where they cannot grow at all.

The extreme winds that trees can get exposed to at high elevations also play a part in how they grow and look.

i became in severe college from 2007-2011 the regular teenagers have been cliche and not on an identical time. a million. They positioned on AE, Aeropostal, and so on; they have coach bags and wore dissimilar makeup 2.
