Microsoft Word's Spelling?

I live in New Zealand, and we have a different spelling for several words than those uncultured, crass Americans ;-)

For instance, recognise, organisation are both correct spelling [it's called English].

Anywho, the spellcheck on Word allows me to change the dictionary options to NZ English, but immediately changes back to the US version. Even the IT guys at my office can't figure out how to make it stay on the NZ dictionary. As I am a copywriter, this is quite annoying.

Does anyone know how to change the dictionary on Word and MAKE IT STICK???

Well maybe your IT guys could try this:

rename the default dic file to old dic file and replace the US english file with a copy of the NZ Engish dic file, so no matter what file it uses for spell checking it will have the NZ English version.

Shhhhh.. . don't tell them an America told you how to get around it.

Hmm, try uninstalling the English dictionary entirely and then choosing NZ English. I know how annoying your problem is; even though I live in the US, I prefer good old British spellings any day. That said, I just type them out that way. :)

    Regards,

    Alvin

Note: If your dictionary no longer works after this, not my fault. :D

Not sure if this will help or even if you've already tried it, but here's what I would try (I have Word XP (2002)):

    1. Click the Tools->Language menu item.

    2. Click Set Language.

    3. Select English (UK) in the list box.

    4. Click the Default button to set that as the default language.

    5. Click OK.

    Hope that helps.
