My 2 1/2 year old son climbed up and ate about 10 children's vitamins?
Yes, I put the "child safe" container out of reach, but he pulled a chair over and got up, and I only caught him after he'd eaten about 5 to 10 of them. I'm going to call my doctor, but it'll take a little while for me to hear back from him so I figured I'd check on here.
Fortunately, these particular children's vitamins had no iron and very low doses of anything else problematic. Seems we're lucky - but that's the last time I'm buying children's vitamins. Children with a good diet don't need them anyway.

Call telehealth or poison control just to be safe. Most vitamins aren't toxic in large amounts and just get flushed out of the body when you pee (i.e. vitamin C and Vitamin B), but some can be toxic to children in large amounts, particularly iron. Check the label for iron content, some children's vitamins have iron but some do not.
But best to check with a professional.
Unless he appears to be in severe distress, there is no need to call 911, that is for emergencies.

Call POISON CONTROL..They taste like treats for a reasson, and most of them have lower levels of vitamins and minerals for that reason, but IRON, NIACIN, Vitamin A and a few others can cause serious reactions and better safe than sorry, if you don't have the # for poison control, call 911 and ask to be connected.They may give you Poison Control, but they may transfer you to the firedepartment (if they aren't in the same building) to make that decision for you. He may need to go right to the hospital. And by all means, if he starts getting rashy, nauseated, headachy, drowsy or acting odd while you're talking to Poison Control - HANG UP AND CALL 911..An ambulance will get him to the hospital faster and safer than you possibly could..please post results, let us know if he is ok ( I work for 911, so I've dealt with this before)

call to be on the safe side....I once ate 13 flinstone vitamins when I was about 3 or so ( my mom told me this) and I was FINE...Im sure he will be just fine but call and get advice from a Professional such as the doctor or poison control to be on the safe side

Go to the ER right now! Get in a car and drive to the hospital! Your child could die from IRON poisoning! It is a serious problem when a child eats too many vitamins. Grab the bottle and run your child to the hospital NOW. And tell the check in person in the ER that your child has overdosed on vitamins and they will probably see your kid immediately!

I agree beat his ***, then watch him close till the Dr. calls, he should be o.k. though.
