switching to toddler bed?

How old were your kids when you switched and how did it go? Did they cry more than just being put in bed or did they adapt easily? Did it take long for them to adapt? Did they fall out of bed?

My son's first birthday gift was actually a toddler room. That night he slept in it. He never gave me a problem about it. He didn't fall off of it by accident.... He can get off successfully now. He could back up, stand up, and then fall on his but to his side... but not go into the sitting position! He never hurt himself and he absolutely loves it. I think the freedom is why he loves it so much. I get to even sleep in now, because he will play with the toys that I leave on the floor for him. And whatever you do... please do not put a toddler on a twin bed. If they do end up falling off, the injuries could be severe! This is why they have toddler beds! Also, when doing the toddler room, make sure you keep your surroundings familiar, yet special. You can also play with the child in there. This will give them good feelings about the room and make the transition easier! Good Luck!

The day my daughter turned a year old is the day she went to a toddler bed, she didnt cry or fall out of the bed and she loved it a lot. It just took her the first night to get use to it.

save your money!! invest in a twin or full sized mattress instead & put it in the room near the crib. let the child decide where to sleep. the routine will change, so be consistent with bedtime. leave the night light & sound soother on all nite. place a cup of water on the night stand & let your child read, play, sing, or cry till falling asleep. stay patient.
