Can you have mild depression and be suicidal at the same time?
I've had what would be described as mild depression for about 2-3 years. There are times when it's severe, but most of the time it's just like a dark rain cloud following me around, threatening to off-load it's storm at any moment.
However even when it's only mild, there's this nagging thought at the back of my head, or more often, the front of my mind..."Why don't you just throw yourself off a bridge because you know that life isn't going to get any better".
Would this still be considered mild depression if you were having thoughts of ending your life? I don't have the other symptoms of severe depression other than this.

I'm familiar with being depressed. Sometimes I think it's the doctors who don't understand it. When I'm severely depressed, I feel numb and have less emotions, less energy and I don't even have the same brain power. I feel like I'm thinking through pea soup. It is when I'm less depressed that I have trouble with suicidal thoughts. It's because I am more emotional and feel more pain.
Don't worry about classifying the depression. Seek help when you know you need it.

I believe that thoughts of suicide immediatly take you from mild to severe depression. You should make an appointment with a dr or a therapist. Its only for your own good they can help you even if you dont think so . But you need to be 100 % honest with them so they can get you the help you need to enjoy your life.
