am i a true insomniac? or am i just whining?
it seems like for the last 2 months ive often been having trouble sleeping. i can't seem 2 fall asleep, if i can fall asleep, imma rock and ill eat you alive if you try 2 wake me up. ive tried everything, baths, milk, tea, waking up early, same time everyday, massages, music, exercising, stress reducers, pills, everything! it seems like its every other night or every two nights that i can sleep. im not extremely tired the next day, maybe wining for a nap at like 3-4 but my mom naps everyday and she can sleep.............. if u have any tips, advice, anything would be helpful, im only 16, my parents want to put me into what is basically a drug induced coma every night which would be worse because that exhausts me........... its curently 4:00 am......... still awake............ waiting........

Sleeping disorders are very common, especially for teenagers, so it is highly likely that you have one. I actually have something called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome meaning that my circadian rhythm is not typical and I naturally sleep better if I go to sleep very early in the morning and wake up in the afternoon. If you keep a journal of when you go to sleep and for how long (noting the quality of your sleep and how often you wake up unexpectedly) then a sleep specialist will be able to accurately identify symptoms and tell if you actually have a disorder or not.

Could be a vitamin/mineral deficiency.
People say to drink milk, because a calcium deficiency can cause insomnia. B vitamin deficiencies can also cause insomnia (Niacin, Panthothenic Acid, etc). A good multi-vitamin would remedy that problem, though.
If you drink a lot of caffeine, or take any kind of fat burner (which is a caffeine + aspirin + ephedra stack...usually using natural sources, like kola nut, white willow bark and ... some other herb I can't remember to supply the ephedra), that can ramp up your endocrine system and keep you up all night.
Soem folks are very sensitive to artificial light. As humans evolved, our body's circadian rhythm became attuned to blue light waves during the day (blue sky), and no blue light waves at night (no blue sky). But since we can just flip on a switch or stare at a computer monitor which has full-specturm light, we get bombarded with blue light waves all night long, too. Try adjusting your monitor to remove the blue so it's mostly yellow/orange. You can also get a lamp and install a bug bulb...these are yellow bulbs that don't emit blue light, since bugs are attracted to blue light. They can't see it, thus they wouldnt' hover around it if it was outside at night...hence a "bug" light. Switch that bug light lamp on at night when the sun goes down, and use it to read by. When the blue light spectrum drifts away at night, melatonin production increases in the brain. That's the sleep hormone that makes us tired.
If cutting out blue spectrum sources doesn't help as much, you could go right to the source...get a melatonin supplement. Start with 1mg at 8pm or so, drink itdown with a bit of juice so it'll hit your blood stream faster. Around 9 or 10pm, it should start making you drowsy. If it doesn't kick in enough the first night, then you can ramp up to 2mg. If that's still not enough, then the next night try 3mg. It usually doesn't take much. By taking it at a regular time each night, you are hard-setting your circadian rhythm. This can be useful for folks with delayed sleep phase syndrome...night owls. Some folks have a hard time going to sleep early, and stay up late. Then when they do go to sleep, they have a very hard time waking up early. When left to their own schedule, they turn into vampires...up all night and sleep all day. It's usually due to artifical blue-light spectrum during the night, and a circadian rhythm that's all fucko-bazoo. So, taking melatonin at 8pm can help reset that.

are you saying that you have a nap at around 3 or 4 or just that you want one - if you do have one then don't.
I suffer from insonmia & for me it is every single night that I don't sleep - I can 't remember the last time I slept more than 3 hours in a night.

My first thought is your trying to go to bed to early. At your age you might only need 6 hour of sleep a night. If you get tired during the day, then it's a problem. If your not tired during day, then your getting enough sleep and there's no problem.

damn! that sux im sorry, u ever try takn a pill for blood pressure? im A.D.H.D. and take a blood pressure pill to lower it so that i cn calm down enuf to sleep. like last night i was in bed until 5:30 when i finally went and took my pills. i was wide awake as **** and then i fell asleep within 20 minutes. btw, im 15 almost 16, and ur cute:)
