Buying car on Craigslist with a lien?

I am interested in a car and contacted the person who is selling it. He says he bought it at an auction and does not come with a title (it's a lien sale). He says I can take the paper he will give me to the DMV who will issue new plates and a title. Should I go through with it or walk away?

Please forgive me if I am not using the correct terms, I am new to this sort of stuff.

Never buy a car without a clear title. If he purchased the car at auction it would come with a clear title that is the only way to legally transfer ownership of a vehicle.

It ran great, it exchange into appealing, it in good shape the define to a T, and it has purely gotten greater effective for the reason that then. The issues that advance a crimson flag for me are the grammatical and sentence shape blunders and then the divorce tale. === the seller of this fine automobile that is priced well below the market is admitting to you that he is not the true tritled owner === you may be paying for a car that you will never own .... If I were you I would find an honest seller with a true title ....... You will have to pay the back taxes and the current registration and new title fees .... WALK AWAY .... find a better car deal ....

You could get screwed if it has a Lien on it, could make it hard to register. Check your local DMV for more info.

Walk away fast, it's a SCAM.

Your money will walk away if you fall for it.
