Preparing for premature delivery at 33 to 34 weeks.?
Anyone have experiences to share? I made 33 weeks yesterday and my water broke 5 days ago. They stopped labor and gave me steriod shots and now I am on bed rest until a week from today when they will induce me. They'd like to wait until 34 weeks but if I show signs of infection or go into labor again they won't stop it. Anything to help me prepare for after her birth would be helpful, weight, hospital stay, etc. Thank you!

My daughter was born at 34 weeks. She was a bit growth restricted due to preeclampsia, and weighed just over 4 lbs. She was pretty healthy for 34 weeks, and only needed a little bit of help breathing at first.
She had the typical preemie jaundice and slow learning how to eat, but did very well and spent 2 weeks in the NICU. She's been perfect ever since, and is still breastfeeding at 22 months. With preemies, there is always the increased risk of developmental delays down the road, but so far we haven't had any concerns (my first was born at 32 weeks and had a lot more issues).

My son was born at 34 weeks weighing 5lbs 10oz. He stayed in NICU for 2 weeks because his lungs weren't fully developed. He is 2 1/2 now with no problems..you wouldn't even know he was a preemie!
It was very hard on myself to leave the hospital without him. But knowing he was in the best place possible made me feel a little better. Cry if you feel the need to cry and talk to someone about how your feeling. Don't hold it all in!
