I need two power tools a drill for concrete and a saw for thick wood...?

What kind should I get? Would my ordinary drill work to drill into brick? What kind of saw should I get?

Update:

I need a saw to cut 3-5 inch thick wood, occasionally.

If you don't want to fork out the bucks, you can rent these tools at home depot.

a good dependable hammer drill like a Hilte te15 and a circular saw for portability like a Skill worm gear. I've had both for years and have never had a problem. If your work is around the house you might prefer a bench-top compound miter saw with slide blade mechanism. I have an old sears modle and at times i wish it had the slide blade feature.

The drill will work. It's the bit you need. I had to buy one for brick or concrete when I put up a bracket for a flag.

for occasional hammer drilling a black and decker quantum will work just fine...as for the saw do you want portability or a stationary shop saw...
