Going to my first Renaissance festival, any expectations of how to dress?

ive never been to one and i know a lot of people that go usually have costumes and such but i dont really have one. i guess its kind of a stupid question but is this something that is expected of people or do you just show up how you are?

maybe in time it would be pretty awesome to dress up for something like this though but i wouldnt know where to start on that either.

Honestly, the only people EXPECTED to turn up in costumes are the ones who work there. The people who don't work there who turn up in costumes are usually folks like me who just happen to have all that stuff laying around lol.

If you really want to though, I promise there will be vendors for days selling everything you need to build an outfit right there so you can change into something halfway through the day if you really wanted to.

Though, if you wanted to round something up before hand, it's a pretty safe bet that the Faire you are going to has a Facebook page so you can see pictures of what fits in, and go through your closet and see if there is anything you've already got that would work.
