Why Won't My Lawn Mower Stay On?

I have a Craftsman 22' walk-behind pull-start lawn mower with a B&S 6.5hp engine. However, I cannot keep it running for more than a few seconds after priming. After I prime it, it starts right away with no issue, but there's something keeping the fuel from flowing, and I have no idea how to find out what it is. I know enough to replace the air filter, spark plug and change the oil, but that's about it. If I could find a good video or pics and good instructions, I can work on just about anything. I just need something that shows me how to do it and what it looks like. Thanks for your help!

Update:

I don't know what type of carb it has. That's why I'm asking what could be wrong with it. I was hoping someone here would know what kind of carb a 2009 Craftsman 22' self-propelled walk-behind pull-start lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton 6.5hp engine has, and how one would go about fixing it to make the thing work.

Search for a video on how to clean the carburetor on the 6.5 Briggs engine. The carburetor is your problem.

Not enough information. Is it a float type or a tank mounted carburetor? Post the type and you might get a better answer. http://www.lawn-mower-shop.com/carb2.htm Good luck

Try like in one answer removing the old fuel and if it should happen to have a fuel filter I would replace it too.

sounds like you got water in your gas. i,d suggest draining gas in a clear container you should be able to see water/gas separate
