Do white, black, Latino people born in Asian countries such as Japan, classify themselves as Japanese? ?

I didn’t know if Japanese was a race or a nationality? Sorry I’m new to this stuff. I was just confused. I Noticed that people such as black/Latino/Asian that are born in countries like Ireland or England call themselves Irish and English. But do people that aren’t actually “Japanese” call themselves Japanese if they were born in Japan? People born in the United States all call themselves Americans, know matter what race, so is it the same for Asian countries?

Japanese is a nationality (legal status, comes with citizenship for those over 18) and ethnicity. There are no races of humans.

Not all countries have "ius solis". Being born there doesn't automatically give you the nationality.

Ethnicity is the language and culture you were raised in.

I know people who were adopted from Asia at the age of two. They don't speak a word of the language of where they were born, so they are ethnically Dutch. Every cheesehead who speaks with them for  a minute will confirm that.

People born and raised in Japan and in Japanese may consider themselves Japanese. People born in Japan who never learned the Japanese language will not

People from Latina rarely claim anything other then European.

If they do, you're probably talking to a Mezoamerican.

It's ok, I don't think you're a bigot yet. But saying Latin means anything other then a European decedent does make you a racist.
