Kindergarten teacher interview?

What kind of questions do they ask at a kindergarten teacher interview?

Any ideas of what might be asked and model answers if possible as well, please?

10 points to the most thorough and informative!

Thanks :)

Update:

I am going back to study(teaching) in the new year and haven't worked in a kindergarten yet. There are positions for people who haven't finished or even started their teaching training at this company. Since I haven't worked at one, I was hoping for a little guidance on potential scenarios.

Let's not forget the famous question that every potential teacher is asked:

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

I have found that this quetion is best answered with something they have not heard before. For example, don't focus on your love of children. That will come through in your other answers. Be more specific to situations- like how you deal/have dealt with sick children, adjusting a lesson as you go to meet the interest or needs of the class, or challenging parents.

Don't be afraid of the weeknesses part either. Be honest but express a desire to improve that area. Don't think you have to be perfect before you get he job. Let them know you expect to work with the principal to set goals and grow as an educator.

As for K specific questions; expect them to ask about literacy instruction. Think about all the different aspects of literacy at this age; read alouds, shared (predictable) text and poems, the importance of writing (which is mostly graphic representation, or pictures at this age) and listening and speaking experieinces.

I taught K for 7 years and loved it! Good luck!

They will ask you (almost guaranteed) a question about the discipline system and/or classroom management you will have in your classroom.

They will probably ask you why you want the position.

They will ask about your philosophy of education - and possibly about assessment.

They may ask about your ability to work with at-risk children.

You're likely to be given specific scenarios and asked how you would handle them (I hate these questions because they are never specific enough and it's hard to answer without context!).

I would give you model answers, but I need to get going - plus these are the types of questions you will have to answer for yourself. I found interviews my first year to be very personal -- in the sense that they wanted to get to know me and my beliefs rather than just what I was taught in college. Good luck!

They will probably ask you what your teaching philosophy is. They will also probably ask you what your early childhood background is, what you believe about early childhood education and why. They will probably ask you some scenario questions and how you would handle them. I can't give you answers to these questions because it is about what you would do. Be well versed in developmentally appropriate practice and you will do fine. Here is a website to help...www.naeyc.org

The rest of the questions will probably be more general teaching questions.
