  • Is there anything I should be aware of when my dogs get neutered?

My two dogs, a chi and a wheatie, are getting neutered in a couple weeks... is there anything I should be aware of during recovery... The vet gives a lot of information, but I am looking for info from people who have had their dogs neutered and taken them home. I just want to know what might be different about them, or if they will do weird things while recovering.

  • Can cats suffer from separation anxiety like dogs?

I left to walk my dogs a little earlier, and my sister in law told me that my cat Jax began to to cry, pace in a circle, and dig at the carpet. She said that she tried to quiet him, but he wouldn't relax until he heard the doorknob turning with me coming back. I'm just curious to know if this is something I should be worried about... I was never aware of it before because I live alone with my dogs and my cat so when I leave, there are no eyes or ears left behind.

  • How do I go about socializing a 2 year old chihuahua/miniature pinscher mix?

I adopted a chihuahua towards the end of March. With the weather getting better, we have begun taking trips to the park. I quickly learned that this little guy hates other dogs and will occasionally lunge at approaching people. I am not sure how to teach him to stop this behavior. He gets along well with my wheaten terrier and my cat. Any advice would be great. Also any websites with info available would also be great.

  • What would you suggest for a new chihuahua owner?

I just adopted a 2 year old chihuahua from a local rescue group. He has some skin flaking and hair loss which the shelter says was caused from poor nutrition before he was brought in. . . Please recommend a good food and a way to get his hair growing back in. Any advice is much appreciated.

He is a 6lb, black and tan.

  • Do you think smell can be breed specific?

My brother's young rottie smells just like a childhood rottie I had growing up. They don't eat the same food or the same shampoo. Any ideas?

  • How big should I feed?

I have met some juvenile ball pythons that seem so much bigger than mine and some are even younger. I am worried that I may be underfeeding him. I give him a large mouse once a week and I would like to know if I should be feeding him more.

He is about 15 inches long.

  • What are some good lamb and rice dog foods available?

Nutro Natural Choice recently changed their lamb and rice formula, which has my dog not feeling the greatest. Now, I am looking for a new Lamb and Rice food to feed him. I would like to stick with a food comparable in price to Nutro's Lamb and Rice. All suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks to everyone in advance.

  • What should I use to remove smell that I can't smell?

My wheatie, Bear has a few blankets that he pees on. They are cages for his crate that he has peed on at some time or another. When he is given a new blanket, he won't pee on it. What should I use to get rid of the smell he is obviously smelling on the older blankets?

***Until then, my kitten Jax has a pretty tall pile of blankets to sleep on***

  • I'm just curious, is this cruelty?

Okay, I have seen many questions where people ask whether or not they are being wrong for keeping their dogs outside. I have seen many occasions where dogs have lived and thrived outside. Huskies and Malamutes in the north, who pull sleds are more often than not housed outside year round. These dogs are exposed to some of the most extreme conditions, but they survive.

In many cases, there are 100 to 300 dogs to one family of owners. (How much attention does each dog get?) Yes, they are fed and given medical attention and have a life span of 12-14 years. Keep in mind that these dogs are kept chained to their houses far enough away to not touch the closest dog near them. Is this cruelty? If it is, there are a lot of people on here who need to head to Alaska to free these animals from such torture.

I understand that there are many people here that believe that they know the best way for other's to treat their dogs, but how can you be right, ind the next answerer or asker wrong?

My question is, are the sled dogs in Alaska mistreated? If they are, why are you wasting your time yelling at a few people on Yahoo when you can get support groups together to save the thousands upon thousands of dogs in need and find somewhere for these dogs to live indoors for the rest of their 10 years or so?

  • Can someone help them all get along?

My brother's family and I just relocated to the same house in a different town than we were previously living. He owns a rottweiler and a chihuahua mix. I have a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and a Cat. The cat is kept separate, so the big part is getting 3 male dogs to all get along. Namely the rottie and wheatie.

My brother is an Army sergeant who has spent a lot of time overseas which left his wife to care for the kids and animals. So, the rottie has has had little to no socialization.

My wheatie is the opposite. He has been socialized a lot and gets along great with the tiny dog. He tries to approach the rottie, but the rottie isn't okay with that. My wheatie is a terrier, so when faced with a fight he doesnt back down. This has caused a bunch of shuffling of dogs when going out to the yard or going on walks.

I am living with my brother because of medical reasons and will never rehome my dog, who is a pointed show dog. He will also not be neutered. My brother's dog is a neutered rottie who went through obedience classes at a time in the past. Any advice on how to work with these guys is much appreciated.

  • What's causing incomplete sheds?

Both my ball python and my corn snake have had incomplete sheds lately. I increase the humidity and provide moist huts for them. They are housed in the same room and they both eat well. Any advice would be much appreciated. Am I doing something wrong?

  • Why did my cornsnake get pale?

I "inherited" a six year old Cornsnake (Brak) about a month ago. Just recently, he has lost his bright orangeness and gone really pale. When I turned his hide over he kinda just laid there and didn't move until I touched him. Is he getting ready for a shed.

I own a ball python, but he has never exibited such behavior before. Should I be worried about my cornsnake?
