  • How do I edit an 'age' field in Access 2010 so the age is auto calculated?

I make tables all the time and, while I do have some formal training using MS Access 2010, I still get stumped on small things like what I'm about to describe (and need help on).

Myy table has a 'Date of Birth' field (00/00/0000) and also an 'age' field. I want to edit the design of the table so that the age of the record is automatically calculated against the date of birth in relation to today's date (eg, if today is June 3, 2013, and I was born on July 2, 1980, I want the table to automatically enter my age as of today's date which would be 32).

How do I edit the necessary fields (MS Access 2010) to automatically work out this age without my having to do it manually?

  • Colon discomfort - does this mean anything serious?

I've been in recovery from a chronic brain injury for about 7.5 years now and, while I'm often difficult to tell there's anything now wrong (in most places, not all as tension/stress worsens symptoms), there is one problem I've had from the start which I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is something worth considering as being serious (ie pre cancer) or just wear and tear.

My bowel muscles were damaged by this brain injury virus (it basically ruined my central nervous system for about 5 years) and, initially (ie the first 2-3 years) I was averaging 5-10 bowel movements/day before it began to be less frequent.

It's still somewhat frequent (4x most days) but now there's a new(ish) problem which has arisen : pain during a bowel movement (as opposed to sitting or standing, when there is none, so this is obviously internal).

It basically feels like a large pimple is being squeezed inside me as I push (apologies for the visual) - that kind of sharp pressurized pain (but not 'OH MY GOD' bad, more just a real pain in the a$$).

I read the symptoms of colon cancer and those don't sound consistent with my issue but I'm concerned nonetheless.

If you know anything about colon issues/pain/illness and this sounds like something to worry about, can you please tell me what medical condition it sounds like to you? (I'll ignore stupid comments)

    Advance thanks.

  • Questions about Nibiru?

    Hello,

I've been seeing various online media items about this apparent threat to earth called 'Nibiru' (ie the large object allegedly threatening to hit this planet on Dec 21 of this year) and, though I remain skeptical that it will even come close to us (given that space is obviously enormous, I think it'll just miss, though I don't claim to know the science), I do wonder about a few things which I'm interested in hearing others opinions about:

    * If Nibiru does exactly what many are worried about it doing (ie plows into this planet wiping every living thing out), what do those who are religiously inclined (I'm not devout but I am open to the concept with proof, as opposed to faith) feel will become of god if earth and humankind are both destroyed? Will that mean heaven and hell also cease to exist?

    * What are the chances of Nibiru, if it were to enter our solar system, hitting somewhere OTHER than planet earth (eg Jupiter)? Why are some so convinced that earth is the one in line when there are plenty of other objects in our solar system it could hit (including the sun)?

    * If you believe in there being an afterlife, what do you believe will happen to you if earth is destroyed?

I saw some somewhat suspicious Youtube sciency videos on '2012 (and now)/2013 predictions for galactic disaster' (literally just one or two) and I think this is how it's going to be from now on - nothing will happen in 2012 so the skeptics will begin to find reason to worry about 2013 (at a guess because it has the number '13' in it, but could be anything), as the Youtube videos I've begun noticing are hinting at doing.

I find it reassuring that some are so quick to revise their dates we should all worry about; just tells me no one really knows anything.

Personally, I'm more concerned about a dirty great solar flare, if anything in the galaxy'll be wiping us out any time soon.

  • Buying Adobe Creative Suite Software?

I admit having recently looked to the dark side of obtaining software by browsing (browsing) a few torrent sites in an attempt to find earlier releases of Adobe Creative Suite packages because :

    1) They cost a load of money (Production Premium, which is what I want as all I want is Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects)

    2) I don't wanna buy an entire suite of 5+ programs when I only intend to really use 2

I gave up on torrents/illegal downloads as:

    1) It's illegal and I felt so dirty looking

    2) It's illegal

    3) I figure there's a 50/50 chance doing that'll screw my PC with a virus

    4) It's dodgy and probably wouldn't work anyway (ie there'd probably be a problem with the downloaded software)

What I'd IDEALLY like, and where I think Adobe is going wrong with this stuff (unless I'm mistaken, please correct me if so) is that there doesn't appear to be any way to legally and properly purchase custom Creative Suite packages (IN STORES) as boxed software (as opposed to downloads, which I don't want to do as I prefer boxed software, and those downloads would be enormous).

For example, the current release is Creative Suite 6 (as of Oct 2012). I want Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects so, logically, the Production Premium CS6 package would be ideal (as it has both and is the lowest costing suite). However, Production Premium also comes with about 3 other, somewhat expensive, programs which I don't require (I think Audition is one, which looks alright, but I have other music making software).

    Does anyone know:

    1) Is there any way to purchase BOXED versions of either individual CS6 software, or custom made packages (eg with 2 programs) and avoid spending a ton of money for stuff you don't need? In this country, CS6 Production Premium costs around $3000 (think that's around 1.5k US) which is stupid if you only intend to use a couple of the programs it has.

And they wonder why pirate sites exist - cos Adobe charges so freaken much for what they sell (no argument about quality, it's just the price).

  • Is Adobe Premiere Elements 10 (newest) worth getting?

    Hello,

I am a novice video editor (ie I haven't yet gotten into any of the Adobe Creative Suite programs but I'm looking into it) who's just been using the more simple video editor 'Adobe Premiere Elements 8' since early 2010.

I feel confident with it and like there's not a heck of alot more it can offer, but I then saw (today) a local store selling Premiere Elements 10 at quite a cheap price (for a first hand piece of software). I am considering buying it at this price but I first went and looked at a review on Youtube and, to tell you the truth, the only real difference I can see between the quality of Prel 8 and that of Prel 10 appears to be in the ability to share made video footage to Youtube/Facebook, will also everything seems easier on the eye.

I was hoping to see fantastic new effects, things you can do in this release but not the others but, instead, it just croned on about how pretty it looks, how convenient sharing stuff online is, or that commands are now more easily accessed.

There doesn't seem like any real reason to bother with this software at all considering my copy of Prel 8 doesn't really look all that far behind this new one.

I have two options and I'm asking for an opinion on whether this new Adobe Premiere Elements 10 is worth getting (ie is it markedly better to Prel 8?) or, should I just not bother with it and mill around with 8 until I scrounge enough money together to buy whatever Creative Suite package will be on sale at the time (it's at CS6 now)?

I don't just subscribe to getting CS6 Production Premium (is what I'd get) because I literally only would be buying it for Premiere Pro and After Effects and it comes with around 8 programs on it (I've read those others and, besides Audition, they don't seem all that appealing to me so I don't want to buy a bunch of software I don't plan on using).

Also, I HATE buying downloaded software and much prefer buying the boxed CD, so that's why I'm not interested in purchasing Premiere Pro and After Effects as downloads (they're enormous, anyway, and I can't be bothered downloading it all).

  • Does the Adobe CS6 software suite require an additional subscription payment?

    Hi there,

I'm hoping to graduate from the realm of 'hack-video-editor-who-thinks-he's-all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips- with-Adobe-Premiere-Elements-8-which-he-can-use-pretty-well, to novice with the vastly more sophisticated Adobe Premiere Pro (CS6) at some stage in the not overly distant future.

I read a question on these forums about a subscription to use this software.

If I purchase Premiere Pro CS-whatever the number'll be when I get the money together, is there an additional monthly subscription fee aswell? The version I'd be buying would be the retail version found in stores.

  • Adobe After Effects/Premiere Pro question for knowledgeable users?

I have a very simple piece of software right now, Premiere Elements 8, and I've been messing around with that for a couple of years and it's now 2nd nature to use, so I'm considering upgrading to Premiere Pro. Thing is, Adobe also has the After Effects program, which I'm under the impression is a special effects program designed to give you the ability to make videos made using a program like Premiere Pro OR Premiere Elements look much better. If this is the case, how then is Premiere Pro more useful than Premiere Elements if I could theoretically just make a video in either then polish them up using Adobe After Effects, wouldn't the end result basically be the same?

I absolutely appreciate that Premiere Pro MUST be hugely superior to Premiere Elements (it's 10x the price so it can't not be) I'm just asking literally what the differences between either are which make Premiere Pro worth purchasing BEFORE After Effects taking into account I already have a very basic video making program which, I imagine, would be compatible with Adobe After Effects?

I'm presently under the impression that Premiere Pro supports a more comprehensive range of media types, has a superior layout, and a few other things I saw in a Youtube review, but what features really justify the price difference between the two programs?

  • Can Adobe After Effects CS5/any other versions be bought alone in box format?

    Hi there,

I've been using a (what I think of as being like) 'training wheels'-style video editing program with Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and I now feel like there's not a heck of alot more I can learn using this program and it's now time to upgrade to something more highly regarded.

I've been checking out both Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects on Youtube channels to see if they're any good and they both appear to eat what I'm using for breakfast (ie they both look fantastic).

I'm personally more drawn to After Effects (it just came across as cooler).

Here's the problem : I've looked in local computing stores and all they appear to have is the entire Creative Suite versiob 5.5 (think is the current release, and I think CS6 is soon to be released here) and Adobe After Effects appears only able to be purchased either through buying the ENTIRE range of Adobe products (about 5 of in one box coming to several thousand dollars of this country's currency) OR through an online download.

I don't want to buy 5 products with the intention of only using one (the others look great but I don't really want them) and I dislike the idea of downloading very expensive (and huge - hard drive spacewise) design software which I'd (presumably) have to keep on my PC where it could be erased if a virus ever struck.

All I want is ANY version of Adobe After Effects CSanything in boxed format which can be used in New Zealand or Australia (because the dvd formats are the same in these two countries).

Can this product be purchased in box format (ie a box with the software inside it) containing only Adobe After Effects? If so, do you know any online site which sells such a product and can ship it in the correct disk format to Australasia?

  • How do you make FB avatar images that move?

I've seen numerous online avatar images which have moving frames. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and am aware that a possible means is opening a background image, then adding a foreground image, duplicating it, then inserting each one onto the background layer before saving it to web as a *.gif image but, while I saw this on a Youtube tutorial, when I follow those instructions, it doesn't seem to work out and I only get the first top layer image (ie the one I want to move around) showing up (and I tick the 'animate' box when saving to web).

Does anyone know how to make these moving avatar *.gif images? Can you give me a step by step instruction?

  • What is the answer to this economics question?

One question on an assignment I'm doing for office administration :

"The customer has been given a numeric code (116) as a reference. What advantage does numbering have over alphabetic referencing in terms of ensuring accuracy?"

This is in relation to a CUSTOMER NUMBER on a CREDIT NOTE giving credit for an item listed on a sales INVOICE.

Half the answer I originally gave was marked wrong and I was given it back to redo. The first point I made was correct ("numbers are more easily able to be allocated to customers and provide more individuality, which means more accuracy")

I then tried to back the point up by rambling on about an alphabetic labelling being too lengthy whereas numbers are shorter, which was the wrong part - I ran out of ideas while writing it).

Any ideas what a good answer to this question might be?

  • What pornos star 'Carmen Cocks'?

    http://www.yourdailygirls.com/galleries/carmen_coc...

(This is a CLEAN photo of her)

I've just seen this star in photo format around the show a few times and think she's unbelievable looking - not 'done up' in the 'plastic surgery everywhere'-sense of the word, and quite 'normal-looking'-type hot, which is what I personally go for.

Anyone here know some of the titles she stars in? I can't think of anywhere where only titles featuring her are listed and I can't be assed going through tons of titles looking for one lady.

  • Anyone familiar with the movie 'American Psycho'?

Just bought a copy of this movie after not having seen it for a number of years, and it is brilliant (Christian Bale = great actor).

Anyway, I was watching it, saw Patrick Bateman (played by Christian Bale) killing people progressively randomly until he completely loses the plot at the end and one part I just don't understand. The first victim of Bateman, Paul Allen (Jared Leto), is shown being killed by Bateman with an axe in pretty violent manner. He then wraps Allen's body in a black sack and drags it through his apartment building, leaving a bloody trail while walking. There is no indication this is imaginary, the blood trail is there as Bateman walks away and doesn't see it (so, logically, if it was his psychotic imagination, there would be no blood trail unless he was looking at it).

Why I mention this is because, at the end of the movie (after he says he's killed 40 or 50 people to someone on his 1980s cellphone), Bateman meets the man he confesses to in a bar and tries to confess face to face and say he's the killer and so forth.

The man, who I think is a business associate of Bateman's, then goes very serious (after initially thinking it to be a joke) and says he was with Paul Allen only 10 days prior (which I assume is after the time Bateman killed him).

I don't understand the explanation for this. I'm assuming Bateman's that crazy that what he wants to do to people (ie maliciously kill) has stopped being imaginary and become made up memory for him.

This wasn't clearly made out in the movie and, although I really like this film (because, to me, it's not a typical Hollywood movie and quite original), this ending just makes no sense.

Can anyone who's either read the book (which I believe there is one written that this movie is based upon), or understands this better than I do from the movie, tell me how it is that we see Patrick Bateman take to Paul Allen with an axe, see him draggng away the body (with blood trail Bateman isn't looking at) and this is somehow all in his mind?

If this ending hadn't been put in (it just felt like the script writers realized they had to end the film so threw in a convenient twist), then it would be about the best American-made film I've ever seen (alongside Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas).

  • Where in New Zealand can I buy Adobe After Effects or Action Essentials 2?

(Question aimed at people familiar with New Zealand shops/currency - I've looked on Amazon.com, but I prefer buying in person 1st, then online).

I'm a complete novice at video making. I've been learning simple things from Adobe Premiere Elements 8 for a while now (bought 2 years just as a hobby) and think it's time to upgrade this software (plus the program seems to struggle on my machine, which is a modest i5 Pentium dv6 Windows 7 hp notebook : I realise there's better, but this computer should handle Premiere Elements no problem, yet it crashes all the time with it).

I've been reading reviews of other, higher rated, products and two have caught my attention :

    1) Adobe After Effects

    2) Action Essentials 2 (not sure what the publisher's name is)

After Effects is the one I'm prehaps most interested in but I am confused about the prices I've seen online. Products have ranged from very small amounts, to sizeable ones.

I'm under the impression that After Effects is part of a 'creative suite', like MS Access is to Microsoft Office, hence (I think) why some prices are $2000+ (NZD). I then saw some products listed at $50, but saw that these were product keys, so obviously of little use.

I then saw a 3rd price range which confused me as it was Adobe After Effects 'Windows Upgrade CS5' for just under $400 (NZD), which is in my desired price range.

I'm unsure if the $2000 package refers to about 5 products (like MS Access is one element of Windows Office) or if that product ALONE is that price and, if so, what does the $400 give?

  • How much do you care if you're unfriended on Facebook?

If you log on to Facebook and notice your friendlist has shrunk by a number, how much does it annoy you? Do you normally approach that person and ask why they unfriended you? Do you think about it alot after it happens?

It used to bother me alot until I discovered the 'who unfriended me?' app, which tells you who unfriended you (obviously). I now see exactly who left when they have done and, most of the time, it's someone I never speak to so it's easy to not care.

BUT, when someone I do care about unfriends me, especially if they say nothing to me (and I'm not an angry-natured person) - it's very frustrating and difficult not to forget.

    How about you?
