  • How can I check for a water leak in a 2001 Eclipse Spyder?

I know a shop can run a vapor/smoke machine and see where it exits, but I really don't have much cash, and I'd rather use the money on repair, not the diagnosis. If I used dry ice in water to fill the car with vapor, would that have the same effect? I already checked all the drainage holes, none of which are clogged. The windows are also ok. All that is left is the convertible top and surrounding weather stripping. There are no visible holes in the top (I looked with a magnifying tool). Anyone with science or automotive experience out there? I get a puddle in my rear passenger side floor area and already blew out an amplifier due to water damage (great positioning for an expensive piece of electrical equipment...under the seat).

  • Question about Infinity Sound System in 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder?

Are all 7 speakers linked to the amplifier, or just the two in the doors and the two in the rear? Recently I lost all sound. The stereo still comes on and displays stations, CD tracks, etc. but I get NO sound....not even static. I think the amp blew (would have to be big coincidence for all 7 speakers to blow at once), but replacement is about $700.00 and if there is somewhere else to look first, any advice would be appreciated. NOTE: I am a do-it-your-selfer, so get as technical as you want, I'll understand.

  • Maintenence History for a 2001 Eclipse GT Spyder?

Is there any way to get the maintenence history of a vehicle after you've bought it? I purchased a 2001 Eclipse GT Spyder a while back, but I'm just curious to see what the previous owner did. Is it tracked by VIN #? Or would I only be able to get a history through Mitsubishi if work was done by them? Any help is appreciated.

Note: There is NOTHING wrong with the car, just curiosity.

  • What to do about 8-year-old's behavior?

My wife and I are losing our patience and our sanity with her son (my step-son). He's going to be nine years old very soon, but he exhibits behavior of a wild 4-5 year old. No form of discipline works, and no punishment seems to phase him. He refuses to go to any restaurant where there aren't toys involved without at least thirty minutes of struggle to get him in the car. When he doesn't get what he wants, he throws fits, breaks things, and has now begun urinating all over our basement when he's upset (I don't mean having accidents, I mean pulling down his pants and aiming). We have tried enrolling him in Martial Arts since we heard that helps with discipline and focus, and his instructors say he is a pleasure to teach, but that goes out the window as soon as we leave. It also doesn't seem to help when he visits his bio father and grandmother on weekends. Any progress we make completely disappears when he's there, since they let him do whatever the heck he pleases. Any advice??

  • Do I need to register/insure a car I intend only to fix up and sell?

In the state of NJ, If I plan on purchasing a car, only with the intent to fix it up and re-sell it, is it necessary to register the car and insure it? (I do not plan on driving it at all. It will be delivered to the place where I am working on it by truck.)

  • Question about warranties and modifications?

I just bought a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder, and I wanted to do some work on it. However, I also purchased the warrantee and it has restrictions on what I can do. Are Intake, Headers, and exhaust system considered "engine modifications", or does that strictly mean changes to the Engine Block itself? While the parts I want to add are technically part of the exhaust system, they connect directly to the engine. I would like to make the changes, but I don't want to void the warrantee (I really couldn't afford expensive repairs if they come up in the next 3 years, and I don't want something dumb like not being able to have my brakes fixed because I threw on an Intake).

  • What steps must I take to start a small business?

A good friend of mine and myself are looking to start a company together. What paperwork must we file to register a company name (preferably as an LLC to protect our personal assets), get a tax ID, and other such things. I've never started a business before, so any advice would be appreciated.

  • Emotionally Challenged?

A husband and wife move into a new neighborhood, and they thought it might be a nice gesture to invite some of their new neighbors over for a costume party. The catch is, each costume has to fit the theme of Emotions.

The doorbell rings, and there is a couple wearing all green. The hosts ask what are you dressed as? to which the couple reply "We're Envy". Very nice, the hosts say, come on in!

Next doorbell ring, there's another couple dressed all in blue.

"we're sadness," they say, and are invited in.

Later in the evening, they answer the door only to find a very large man wearing nothing, but his junk is hanging down into a bowl of pudding. "What are you supposed to be?" say the hosts.

The man replies: "I am f***in' dis custard!"

  • What modifications can I make to improve fuel economy?

I own a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder. I know that Intakes, exhaust and such give better performance, but which mods will actually increase fuel economy? With gas prices so high, ANY improvement would help (especially since I tend to put a LOT of miles on my car commuting - a full 16-gallon tank lasts me only 2-3 days on average).

Also, please no "Get a different Car" responses. I can't afford payments right now, but I could afford a one-time cost of modifying.

  • Rough Idle in 2001 Eclipse GT Spyder?

After I've been driving even a little, when I put my car in park, it idles really rough and I can see the tachometer dipping between 1,000 and almost 0. What can cause this?

  • Delegate votes of candidate who withdraws?

When a candidate withdraws, like Fred Thompson just did, what happens to delegates they had won? Is there some sort or re-vote, or are they lost to the ether, taking away from what other candidates could have gotten?
