Anyone dealing with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy?

My 12yr old daughter has just been diagnosed with HOCM thanks to a very alert ER doctor. We are still in the middle of testing with the cardiologist so we don't know the full extent of it yet.

I'm just wondering if any other parents here are dealing with it? How are you coping? Is it progressing in your child or is it stable? Any info you happen to have or great websites or books regarding HOCM would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so sorry to hear your daughter is dealing with this right now, especially at her age.. it isn't really fair I don't believe but it's not up to me who gets what unfortunately. :( I wish her great health and that she doesn't have too many problems entailed with this diagnosis..

I was told I had peripartum cardiomyopathy and I remember how awful I felt.. I do not know the difference between what I was diagnosed with and what your daughter was, but I know that cardiomyopathy is nothing to stick your nose up at.. you just don't feel good, period.. just know that there's other people out here who understand (somewhat) and we're rooting for you.. I'm so sorry that I do not have anything important or words of wisdom but I hope your daughter can pull thru this and hopefully get well from this diagnosis. Best wishes and lots of luck..
