  • Are any of you guys old enough to remember?

"Pop Guns"? They looked like Daisy BB guns, but just make a "POP" when you pulled the trigger. I liked poking mine into some moist earth, so it would pick up a plug of dirt. When I shot it, it was a dirt shotgun. I shot my big sister with it, while she was harassing me one day, and I never saw it again.

  • Is there a medical term for?

A person who "manufactures" a crisis, and then becomes the "hero" by finding the solution for the engineered problem?

I have been working with a person who came into our place for about 3 months. Some small problems have arisen since this person came to work with us. These problems never happened before, and this person always seems to find the answer when no one else can. Well, I caught her yesterday, which just happened to be her final day of employment. She can't be fired now, since she has resigned, but I now know that she has been doing these things to make herself look better.

I was just wondering if there is a medical term for such a person? Is there a condition which causes people bring chaos into an environment, and then "solve the problem", making them look like "the hero of the day"? There just has to be a name for it. Any ideas?

  • How many Christians realize?

That tomorrow is "Pentecost". It's actually "Shavuot", or the "Feast of weeks" (see Leviticus 23).

Since this is the day that Christians say "the church was born", why do you not celebrate this day? This should be a HUGE day for the church, but it passes unnoticed. Why is that?

  • How much money am I looking at?

To start reloading my own ammo? I'm starting from 'scratch". I would appreciate any info from you guys who have been smart enough to be doing this all along. My son-in-law is going in with me on this venture, but I was just wondering what the basic equipment is going to cost us to get started. Thanks.

  • Do the people at Yahoo not realize?

That there is a Feast known as Tabernacles? Why has this Feast been excluded from the list of holidays? We are celebrating Tabernacles right now, so it should be included so that we can share photos of our Sukkahs, and share our Sukkot stories. This looks like a "slight" to me.

YAHOO PEOPLE. Add Tabernacles, or Sukkot, to your list!

  • Parsley Root used in cooking?

I've seen several cooking shows where they mention parsley root. Is this something special, or can I cook with the roots of the parsley which has over-wintered in the garden?

  • Will it kill a Yaupon Holly?

    To pretty much "top" it?

We had a bad ice storm in West Texas a couple of weeks ago, and my 15 ft. tall Yaupon was warped beyond recognition. The ice bent it down to the ground, and it split the branches where they were bowed.

I would hate to have to replace it, but it is in my front bed, and it is nothing but ugly.

If I take it down to the crotch, will it put out shoots which can be trained? It's either that, or get rid of it.

  • My brother is severely "mentally challenged"?

He has been in "State Schools" almost all of his life. Our parents are dead, and my sister and I have our brother every other weekend. I am feeling a lot of guilt over him having to live away from 'home". He lives to be 'home'. We have him home for a weekend, and then he waits for two weeks to get to go home again. I'm having HUGE problem today. I'm on a guilt trip. He's such a beautiful person.

How do those of you who deal with this same problem cope? I feel extremely selfish for making him live in a group home. He wants to be here with me, and I feel that I could make it work if I really put my mind to it. I haven't even had a chance to talk to my wife about it yet.

I just feel that we have failed our brother. We have homes, but we continue to take him to 'that other place'.

Have any of you dealt with this same problem, and what are your thoughts?

Please...no smart-assed answers, as this is really giving me a problem today.

  • General vegetables in a heathy drink?

I made a puree of raw carrot, parsnip, beet, apple, and celery today, in a vegetable stock. Everything was raw. Very tasty! Does anyone know which vegetables are beneficial for certain areas of our bodies?

I have eaten very badly for all of my life (51 years), and want to get good nutrients in the best possible manner. Any nutritionists out there who can guide me in a decent path with raw foods?

  • Sunlight coming through blue tarp?

I hope Ihave the right category. If not, then please excuse me.

I make a "Sukkah" (soo-kah) for the Feast of Tabernacles every year. I make a frame and stretch tarps around it for a structure in which I can live for a week. I used to make the structure from blue tarps.

I am not a Scientific mind, so I need an answer.

When the sun is shining on the sukkah, it was like a microwave oven on the inside. As soon as the sun was hidden by a cloud, the heat was gone. Is the blue tarp blocking the UV rays of the sun and allowing the infra-red rays to penetrate?

It is an instant thing. As soon as the sun is shining, the heat is on, but as soon as a cloud floats by, it is gone. I have switched to the reflective silver tarps, but I would like to know why the heat is so intense when the sun is beaming on the blue tarp.

    I hope this makes sense.

  • Any ideas on a good hot weather crop?

My green beans are done, and my corn will soon be history. What are some vegetables that I use to replace these crops? I will surely be planting something in those empty spaces, but I'm not sure of exactly what to plant. Any ideas? We are experiencing temps in the upper 90s, which is normal.

  • Home made insect spray?

I made a quart of liquid, which contains 2 full heads of garlic and some cayenne. Do I spray this full strength, or should I dilute it?

  • Question about "Mr. Stripey" tomatoes?

Have any of you ever grown this variety?

I was getting supplies to service my lawn mower this morning, and the picture of them caught my eye. I've never seen this variety around here before, and it didn't cost much, so I adopted one. Did I make a wise purchase?

  • Puppy with a "shy" testicle?

I have a 5 month old Chihuahua who has one testicle that hasn't come down all the way yet. Our Vet said it would be best to neuter him if it doesn't drop because it could cause cancer later on. He seems awful young to me to be worrying about this, but this is my first male puppy. I have always rescued grown dogs from the shelters.

Is this normal, and should we give him some more time to mature? I do not want to neuter him but, if it poses a health problem, he can live without 'em!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

  • Christians, can you give me an answer?

You are so quick to say that the Covenant made at Mt. Sinai has been done away with.

Do you know what that covenant was? What was the covenant made at Mt. Sinai?

    What was that "old covenant"?

  • Pecan Trees?

I have a pecan tree that I, personally, planted in 1971 when this house belonged to my father. Last year I had a phenomenal harvest from this 50+ foot tree. This year we got NO pecans, and looking at the neighbors' trees they aren't faring any better. Is this a regional thing (Lubbock, Texas) or is this a nation-wide thing?

I'm ashamed that I got tired of gathering the amazing amount of pecans last year, because now I would be Praising the Father for even a small amount of that yield.

  • Was homosexuality the reason for the destruction of Sodom?

That is usually the reason christian preachers give, but the reasons given in Ezekiel 16 sounds a lot like the U.S.A.

  • A question about non blooming Hydrangeas?

I have a hydrangea that is approximately 6 years old. It didn't bloom at all this year. Any ideas of what I may be missing? Does it need something special that may have been washed out of the soil in the massive rains we had last fall and winter? Thanks.

  • Trimming black claws?

My previous dog had white (clear) claws, so it was a snap to trim them without going too far. Is there a rule of thumb for clipping the black ones? I don't want to hurt my darling, but I really need to trim her nails. Thanks.

  • Do you understand the parable?

Of Lazarus and the rich man? From Luke 16.19-31.

This is one of the most misinterpreted parables. What's your take on this one?

I would love to see what a non-believer gets from this, compared to what christians are "taught" about it.
